Reiki for The Princess
First off! Good news. I have lost one and one half inches around my belly! Normally I would not discuss my waist line with anyone, as a girl has to have some secrets, but since Dr. Bill says I need to get some fluids off of me, I am happy that my pee making medicine is working so nicely.
My friends have been sending me all kinds of recipes for my Dad to cook for me, and my Omi is presently cooking me chicken, which I find quite delectable. I must say, homemade food is much more tasty than the store bought variety.
My Gram's dog Rusty, who I think is some sort of relation to me, since my Mom calls him her brother, but I am too tired right now to figure all of that out. Anyway. Rusty gets a Reiki treatment almost every week because according to Dr. Bev, Rusty is a train wreck waiting to happen. Personally, I thought that was a good description of our Bob, but evidently Rusty has a very bad back, including a disc which is about ready to explode. If that happens, our Rusty may have to have some very serious surgery, which would be very hard for my Gram to afford. It doesn't hurt to be frank, after all. It is hard on a lot of families, including mine, to face big vet bills.
I believe I told you about Pet Insurance in one of my blogging entries, but if I didn't I will go and find those facts for you.
But we are talking about Rusty and his Reiki. One of our wonderful pet sitters/dog walkers is named Miss Jewel. So Miss Jewel is what is called a Reiki Master. This is important stuff, but none of us really knows how it works. We trust Miss Jewel and here is the best part. Rusty is like the little engine that could. I don't have any fine pictures of Rusty to send to you, but I can tell you he is a dauschund dog. My Gram says he is a food tube. I think that is because he is not particular at all about eating and gobbles up anything in his path. You may know that these kind of long, tube shaped dogs have many problems with their backs and it is very sad for them.
In the beginning, Rusty had to take some medications for his pain, and he was on something called crate restriction which was also very sad because my Gram sleeps with all of her dogs and she missed Rusty the most because he is like a heating pad with four legs. Now, after a month or so with Miss Jewel, Rusty is very remarkable to say the least. He doesn't take any medication, he races around like an idiot (too much time spent with Bob), he can go up stairs (most of the time) and he loves to run in our woods looking for small furry creatures. Fortunately he has not caught any of them.
We asked Miss Jewel for a short description of Reiki that we could all understand and she said that Reiki (which is pronounced ray-kay) means "universal life energy" It is a Japanese alternative healing method that promotes stress relief, relaxation, and boosts the immune system which allows the body to heal itself. Miss Jewel is acting like a conductor since she can go to the universe's energies and bring them into Rusty. She says it would be like Rusty was a car and she was a gas pump. That sounds funny, I guess, but it's a pretty good description of what happens. More important it is gentle and "non-invasive" and that's the best because I want no invasions on my body.
Two legged people say that the feeling of Reiki is like warm sunshine throughout their bodies. Sometimes, instead, they may feel a cooling sensation. It all depends on what that particular person needs. Sometimes people (or dogs like Rusty) fall into a deep, deep sleep with some twitching and sighing. Rusty even snores, which I would never do! Ha! That's a joke from The Princess. So Reiki is very, very good for not only two legged persons, but four legged ones as well.
So today, I met Miss Jewel and looked into her eyes very deeply. I feel confident that she will be able to make me feel better, so my Mom said we could have her come and visit with me. I believe the biggest gain is that people or dogs (or cats, I guess) who experience Reiki, feel brighter and more at peace. That seems to me to be a very good thing. What could be better?
Well perhaps today outside of Chicago when a big, big truck overturned on the express way and dumped 14 tons of double stuffed Oreo's all over the highway. The driver had evidently fallen asleep after eating too much sugar. No kidding. My Gram just heard this on the radio. Can you imagine? The Princess, me, actually has some dog treats that look exactly like an Oreo. I'm going to have a few right now, and think about Miss Jewel.
Please cross your paws and hope that I loose some more inches from my girth!
Love and licks,
Daisy
