The Queen of Everything

I've been having a very, very hard time lately, as a lot of my friends are leaving me.    My BFF Nutmeg has been across The Rainbow Bridge for over a month now, and I am missing her.   My Gram, and Miss Anne, and Miss Beth all miss our Nutmeg friend.   Who will dress up on Halloween and win all the prizes in the world?

Born in Sperryville Virginia at the bottom of the mountains in Shenandoah National Park.  Nutmeg had hiking in her blood and loved every mountain trail she was on.  She was born drinking mountain spring water and has tasted water from Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Ohio, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, South Dakota, and Wyoming.  She has been to Massachusetts but the water was not to her liking.  He has also been to the Great White Canadian Provence's of Ontario and Quebec.

Some of her accomplishments included obtaining a drivers license (picture and all) from the PMV, learning to drink from a water bottle, knowing to stop at the curb without being told, and memorizing the cars of the neighborhood and letting you know which one does not belong.  She was also known as a VERY tough competitor in the famous Petco Halloween costume contest.  She always placed first or second in every contest she entered from the ripe age of 14 dog years. (2 human years).

She was also a connoisseur of the best pizza delivery services in all of her many travels.  Her human mom helped introduce her to this pastime.

She always loved her social events with Miss Patti, Ms Anne and Ms Beth.

She is survived by her human Mom "Mommie" and Dad "Scratcher" which will miss her very much.

Now she is on that Never Ending Trail in the sky.

I don't think I can say anything better than Nutmeg's Dad has written about  her.  The first time I met Miss Nutter was about six years ago at The Petco Halloween Contest.   I was dressed as a beautiful fairy princess, Nutmeg was dressed as a Stupid Pumpkin.   Nutmeg Won.     I came home and told my Gram, who had worked very, very hard on my costume that I had been beaten by a dumb Shar-Pei in a Pumpkin Suit.    My Gram said not to be a sore loser, it was not ladylike.   Poo.

Later Nutmeg became my Grammies client and my Grammie worked very, very hard to win the affections of this stubborn little gal.     The first morning, my Gram chased Nutmeg all around her home trying to leash her up.   Finally poor Gram, who was then crying, called my Mom, who came over, hooked Nutmeg right up and off they went on a walk.    Nutmeg didn't ever play that game again, but she played a lot of other ones.    She would race ahead and turn around and bark, bark, bark.

Once, Nutmeg's Dad was watching this from the house and told Nutmeg's Mom that he didn't think Nutmeg cared much for Miss Patti.       Fortunately, Miss Virginia, who was Nutter's Mom, told him the truth.   The game was afoot.

As the years past and Miss Patti required some help, Miss Anne and then Miss Beth became friends with The Nut, as they called her.       And every year, Nutmeg won that darn costume contest.   I finally just quit!  What was the point.

My Gram held Miss Nut in her arms on the last day and they had a long, long talk.   Nutmeg promised to be a good girl and not tease the dogs on the other side of the bridge.    And Nutmeg made another promise.   She says she will let me win the very first Halloween Costume Contest we enter when we are both together again.

Love,
The Princess
