Beverly Hills Chihuahua
Hi it's me, Bob.
All better.
In fact I am feeling wonderful because it is FALL and that is my favorite season of the year. Even though I haven't had too many seasons yet, I like Fall the best because the leaves are falling off the trees in our woods and so I can see better when I run with my friends, the deer. Also, there is something soft to land on when I miss a jump.
So.
Our friends at Best Friends Animal Society sent us some wonderful information and asked us to share with all of our friends all over the world (did you know we have friends in foreign places? - it's true - remember Pete Bethune, the captain of Earthrace....?)
The new Disney movie, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, came out yesterday, Friday, October 3rd and we all know what that means. It means that lots of people (mostly little children who talk their parents into it) will want to have a dog just like the one in the movie. Sometimes they even go out and buy a dog "just like that one". But it isn't trained, needs to be taught about not going potty in the house, and guess what - it's can't even talk.
Our friends at Best Friends wanted us to remind you that shelters and rescue groups all across the country have plenty of Chihuahuas for ADOPTION. Did you know that Chihuahuas are the 5th most posted breed of dog for adoption on Petfinder? I didn't know that. First is Labs, then Shepherds, then us, PitBulls, and then mixes of those breeds and then the little ones. Poor little things.
If you wake up your lazy Mouse Person and ask him nicely with a piece of fine cheese, perhaps he will help you do some surfing around to learn some things. If you want to see a star-studded video - with actors from the movie - that Best Friends put together, then ask your MousePerson to Take Me to The Chihuahua Video
And this my friends is the best of all.

This poster was made by Best Friends and it can easily be printed and hung up around your town. We want everyone to know that they can rescue a poor little Chihuahua on Petfinder instead of buying one from a Pet Store, Newspaper ad or the Internet.
In fact ----- get this part --- the star of the movie - Star Chihuahua - was rescued from a Moreno Valley shelter, outside of Los Angeles, just days before his "time was up", and you KNOW what that means.
If you want information about how you can download a copy of the poster to use in your town, please just let us know or contact Best Friends and they will help you.
And by the way....here is good news: Remember Kiki & Lola, who were looking for a new forever home? They found one! Well, actually they found two. Two wonderful neighbors each took one of them with the promise that the girls could see each other all the time. Way to go, Kiki & Lola!
My Mom has some Chihuahua clients and they are named Ricky Ricardo and Coco. My Mom loves taking care of them very much, as does Ms. Jewel and Ms. Nikki who often go to sleep with the "littles" as we call them. Ricky Ricardo wanted to be in this movie but he didn't want to be away from home that long. HA!
Love and Licks and try to Adopt whenever possible.

Hi Bob! Hi! Hi! Helllloooo! and Hi!
My name is Grace, aka "Grace-dog", "chicken cutlet", "G", "G-dawg", "critter", "Gracie", and "pretty girl". Your post about Beverly Hills Chihuahua has inspired me so much that I am going to ask my litter-mate, Lili (she's a 9 year old fourth grader) to post the poster at her school (Long Branch Elementary in Arlington)! I think that will reach a whole bunch of kids who might otherwise beg mom & dad for a puppy "just like that one!" Thanks for the inspiration!
Butt-sniffs and puppy-play-bows,
Grace!
Grace, Wow....that is so wonderful! I think if you blow that picture up really big all the kids in Lili's school will learn that adopting is so much better.
My Mom says she is writing to Mr. Obama and asking him to be sure to adopt a dog for his little girls. We want it to be a PitBull, of course, but he could get a Pit and a Chihuahua don't you think? That would be one for each girl and I'm sure Best Friends in Utah would help him.
I'll keep you posted on the progress on that project!
Please keep writing to me Grace. My Mom was a little under the weather and is behind on our comments, but I want you to know that I think you and I could be friends. Could you send me your picture and maybe a picture of Lili and the poster?
Love and Licks,
Bob

Hiya Bob!
First of all, we're so glad to hear you are feeling better. Tummy aches can be a terrible thing.
Secondly, I think it's wonderful that you posted the "Rescue a Chihuahua" campaign that bestfriends.org is doing after the new move, "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" just premiered. I hope millions of people get the message that Chihuahua's are a big trade for puppy millers and their lives are spent in boxes with wire bottoms to their cages, no sunlight, no walks and no love from humans who have domesticated dogs to be dependant on them for their welfare. I hope everyone will rescue, or adopt a pet from a shelter. Too many little precious lives are at stake here, to keep supporting puppy mills. I know there are probably legitimate breeders out there, but the puppy millers' have ruined it for everyone. Making a dog into a commodity is a sin, in our minds, as all dogs should be part of a loving home. Did I tell you, Bob, that my Mom rescued me? The lady that once owned me always hated me and couldn't wait to send me off to a shelter and label me as a "biter". Thank god my now Mom, Vicki, came along and saved me from a certain fate of death. For five years now, I have been happily living with my now Mom and I'm the happiest dog on earth (next to you, of course). I'm now 9 years old, so I hope I still have many more years ahead of me so I can enjoy them with my now Mom, Vicki.
We're, also, happy to hear that Kiki & Lola found their "forever" homes! Way to go, Kiki & Lola!
Bob, it is so sweet to hear that you love fall and love running with the deer in the woods by your house. That sounds like a lot of fun!
As far as little Ricky Ricardo is concerned, we think he is just bragging about starring in that movie. We're pretty sure he is making up his story, but a dog does need to be able to dream and we mean, DREAM BIG!
Thank you, Bob (our Reporter Extraordinaire!) for this wonderful post. As we said before, we're delighted you are feeling better. Keep us posted, OK? Have you ever thought that, one day, you would be getting a baby sister? We're just curious about this, as a little birdie told us it might be possible that one may come into your life sometime soon. It is something to dream about!

Gosh, thank you so much for all of your comments about the Puppy Mills. My Mom explained to me how that works out and it is terrible. My original Mom only has some puppies "once in a BlueMoon" and this is because she feels that it is wrong to breed dogs just for breeding sake. I'm not truly sure what that means, but my Mom now says that is a good thing.
I can't talk about a new sister because I'm not supposed to know anything about it yet. Just because my ears disappear from time to time, doesn't mean they don't work. Mom must think I'm stupid. But she says we don't want to jinx anything. I'm just worried it might be a Chihuahua.
Love and Licks,
Bob

Now, Bob, I never said you were getting a baby sister; I merely asked if you had ever thought about what it would be like to have one. I am not one to give away "trade secrets", but I just put that out there as "food for thought". Your Mom will need to explain that phrase to you, otherwise you might become very confused.

Here is what I think about that. Why can't 2-legged people just say what they mean? How can food be for thinking? Food is for eating?
Everytime we eat my Mom tells me I have to make a HAPPY BOWL. No that's a stupid way to say "eat all you dinner or you won't get desert", but I guess it works.
Confused (as always)
Bob
