Eleven More Days
Somebody told my Mom that in real life the Twelve Days of Christmas starts on Christmas Eve so it is after Christmas, not before Christmas, but I have decided that this is not acceptable. I have decided that this time I am changing the rules. Everybody, even me, knows that if you are going to start celebrating something you do it BEFORE or DURING the actual event is happening and not AFTER.
Why would you celebrate after something already took place? Would you celebrate so you could show that you are happy because you lived through the actual event? This might be true of a big snow storm, but I don't think that is the way to do it for a happy event like your Birthday or Thanksgiving or Christmas.
Therefore, I, BOB, have decided that Today is the Eleventh Day BEFORE Christmas and so I am waiting for my Two Turtle Doves. I'm a little disappointed actually, because I am also still waiting for my Partridge in a Pear Tree to arrive, but Mom says maybe the week-end traffic is holding up the delivery truck. So I expect all three of these birds to arrive together and am hoping that they get along well with one another.
I know everyone will want to see what the Turtle Dove looks like, so here it is:

I am having a little problem seeing if this is a Ringed Turtle Dove or one that has no rings. I sort of thought that doves were white creatures, but since my two will be arriving in the same tree with the Partridge, I'm sure I will know the difference between them. Doves used to be living in cages, but now after so many years, they apparently have had the fear of large, strange, or moving creatures bred out of them more than any other domesticated bird. This, so I have learned from my Mouse Person makes them very easy to hand tame.
Mom says that might be like our Honey, who is a Quaker Parrot, and is very, very sweet. Mom also says this is for sure NOT LIKE OUR COCKATOO NAMED GEORGE. Unfortunately, George is rather evil and would prefer that no one touch him. Mom says if George arrived on our door-step, no matter WHAT kind of tree he was in, that we should all run like crazy. Ha!
In case you would prefer to NOT have several living birds in your home while you are waiting for the Twelve Days to be over, Mom says that you could also get something like a beautiful painted globe (these are called Christmas Balls, by the way) with a picture of your doves on it. Mom and I were looking all around and we found a lot of really wonderful hand painted ornaments, but instead of getting one with turtle doves or partridges on it, we think that this is the BEST that we found. Is this not beautiful?

This is, in case you do not know, A CARDINAL. Mom says that if you want to have a good time shopping for some really different things for all the people that you love, you should get your Personal Mouse, to take you to ETSY Etsy is a wonderful web site where bazillions of artists are able to display their creative and unusual items. If you, for example, wanted to look at things like this amazing glass bird on a ball you would tell that lazy old mouse to zip over to Blakes Place
I am not a personal shopper, don't forget that. Daisy was the Personal Shopper in our home, but I just don't understand how she managed to get so much happiness from that activity. I am, as you know, A REPORTER.
The only reason I am telling you about these places to shop is that I am thinking about things from a Reporter's View. My job, I am thinking, is just to tell you about some information that just happens to be related to Christmas Shopping. I am sure you understand the difference, right? Shopping is a girlie-girl activity. Reporting Facts is a manly PitBull thing to do.
So. I am now very tired. This has been a hard day of finding facts and so I am going to take a nap.
Waiting for the birds to arrive,
Bob
