The Saving of Hours
Because I am such a wonderful reporter, I wanted to make sure that my information about Daylight Savings Time is correct, and so my very unhappy and very lazy, good for not much mouse, took us to The National Institute of Standards and Technology. From this I learned the following facts:
When does Daylight Saving Time/Standard Time begin?
Daylight Saving Time begins each year at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday of March. Move clocks ahead one hour at the start of Daylight Saving Time.
Standard Time begins each year at 2 a.m. on the first Sunday of November. Move your clocks back one hour at the resumption of Standard Time. Daylight Saving time and Time zones are regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation, not by NIST.
In 2009, Daylight Saving Time begins on March 8 and ends on Nov.1.
This very boring information, but accurate. So before you go to bed tonight, fix all of your clocks to be one hour ahead of the last time you looked at them. Don't forget the clocks on your stove and on the microwave making machine.
Daylight Savings Time was one of our Princess Daisy's most hated events. She thought it was totally stupid, didn't think it saved anything she was interested in, and planned to sleep in as long as she wanted whenever she wanted. As you may recall, Daisy was very opinionated. Not like me, as I am more of a reporter of facts, whereas Daisy indulged herself in a lot of fantasy. I think that is swell for an English Bulldog Princess who made things happen when it suited her, but not so much for a PitBull who needs to establish a lot of credibility. You know that this is true because many people do not think being a PitBull is such a good thing and I have to do everything I can to prove them totally and completely incorrect.
I tend to agree with Daisy because I really don't see the point of changing the time around, when we have a perfectly good sun in the sky to take care of things. We could even get a SunDial to make sure our timing was correct, so long as we didn't have to read it after dark.
I found some wonderful information by Marc Fisher of The Washington Post and you can read the entire thing and VOTE FOR DOUBLE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME Here is what Mr. Marc has to say: "if we really wanted to embrace reality and maximize life, go to Double DST, a big, two-hour push forward of the clocks that would turn our summers into a marathon of gorgeous, endless evenings."
Mr. Marc's entire article is very, very interesting and you will learn a lot of facts when you read it. He is almost as good of a reporter as me, Bob.
So place your vote for what you think is the best solution and even though it probably won't change a thing, it will make you feel better when you wake up tomorrow at 7am and realize it is really 6am. Yipers
