Habitat for Humanity NOVA

It isn't all about dogs in our home, although you might think that sometimes.   My beautiful Sister, Lydia, has a good friend (Indra Books) who is organizing an event on March 18th to benefit Habitat for Humanity NOVA.
           I like their slogan.

So this special event is A FASHION SHOW!  It will be at the Moore Cadillac Showroom in Chantilly on Wednesday, March 18 at 6:00 PM.

You can get your tickets and find out more when your Mouse is Located and agrees to take you to
Your Own Entourage  All the proceeds from the show will benefit Habitat for Humanity NoVA and will be earmarked for the house that is being built where the Women will be helping.

So back to my Sister.  Since she and my Mom have watched America's Next Top Model since it started, I think my sister has some clues as to what she needs to do, although she has a normal body and isn't a stick figure.  So real live clothes should really look fine on her.  I am just concerned because once on the Top Model Show, they had to have  Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches (that had jewels on them) hooked with little chains on their dresses.       I don't think Lydia would be able to walk with a cockroach on a chain.  Perhaps she can walk Lily with her as protection against bugs.   Or I could go.      I see no reason why a Blogging Pitbull can't be in a fashion show.

We actually have a client in our EVERYTHING AND THE DOG  business who has these Madagascar things as pets.  No kidding.  His pet sitter is Mr. Bud and when Mr. Bud goes there he has to feed them and keep them safe.  At first I didn't believe that this could be true and we looked up in Wikipedia and yep!  This is what we found.

Madagascar cockroaches can be kept as pets. They cannot fly like some species of roaches, and they are not aggressive and do not bite. They need a small living area and a spot for them to hide because they do not like the light. They can live on fresh vegetables along with any kind of pellet food that is high in protein, such as dry dog food. In the USA, some states require permits before this species can be kept as a pet or in breeding colonies. For example, the state of Florida requires such a permit. In fact, during outreach programs, the University of Florida's Department of Entomology and Nematology, which has such a permit, allows only males to be taken out of the laboratory. This is to prevent the possible introduction of a gravid female into the environment.

I don't really understand why someone would want to have a bug as their pet, but then again, that is why we are called Everything and the Dog.

Back to the fashion show.  You must hurry and buy you ticket quickly, because Lydia says her finale dress (which means last) is wonderful and she wants to buy it.  The clothing fashions are from Etcetera and Lord & Taylor, and you get wine and little tiny things to eat (these are called appetizers according to my Mom) in the intermission part of the show.
