Operation Scooby

One of my very dearest friends is named Duke and Duke is a Spanish Galgos.   Do you know about the Galgos?  They are sort of like greyhounds.

You know how I like Wikipedia, so I asked them to find me some information about the Galgos

"The Galgo Español (Spanish Galgo) or Spanish Greyhound is an ancient breed of dog, specifically a member of the sighthound family. Despite being called a "Spanish Greyhound", the Galgo is not truly a Greyhound. The lineages of the two breeds are different. However, in the last century or so, some breeders have cross-bred Galgos and Greyhounds in order to produce faster Galgos.

Because they tend to be quiet and docile, Galgos make very nice house pets. They tend to get along well with people and other dogs, and they can be well-behaved around cats if properly socialized. There is a growing interest in adopting out ex-hunting Galgos from Spain to other countries in Europe and North America and there are a number of different organizations dedicated to re-homing Spanish Galgos"

It is a sad, sad, sad fact that in order to rescue the "retired" Galgos from Spain, that the Galgos need lots of help and that is where my friend Duke and Operation Scooby come into the picture.

You can find your mouse and ask him to rush you across the Atlantic Ocean to Spain and visit
Scooby -English

Actually you do have other language choices, but since I only Bark in English, I picked that one.

This is what we learned on the Scooby Site when our mouse flew us there;

"Scooby started out in 1987 as a shelter under poor conditions, providing refuge for the stray cat and dog population and the numerous Galgos (Spanish bred sighthounds) discarded mainly by the local coursing fraternity in the area of Medina del Campo, Valladolid.
What began in an old ruin with bed frames as fencing, and an old warehouse, both without electricity, heat or water, has moved into a new refuge facility. In 2001 the land, right across the old warehouse, with a size of 90,000 square meters, was purchased with the help of a great many people in various countries. It was something "in common", we succeeded in acting like the United Nations in order to save the Galgos, which proves that any problems you encounter both as human beings and as animals are international ones."

Our wonderful photo taking friend
BEV HOLLIS has been working with Operation Scooby for many years, and this is where Duke's  Mom, Diane learned about The Galgos and Operation Scooby.  Miss Diane went to Spain the last time the volunteers went across the sea and came home with Duke, my buddy.  Thank goodness for that, cause I just love him and he comes to my fenced yard to RACE with me.  That boy is fast.   Here is a picture of him that first day when he came to our country.
