Poor Omi
You know that my Sister's Mother-In-Law, who is named Omi, lives with us and also works for Everything & The Dog in the walking of dogs and caring for them while their owners are on vacations. Kitties too. I think it is very convenient that I not only have a Mom but an Omi too.
Omi means Grandmother in German, but everyone calls my Omi that.... even her clients. So I call her Omi too, although she is the same age as My Mom and therefore she could not be my true Omi, but instead is a pretend Omi. Is this all straight with everyone?
So yesterday morning, my Omi was getting ready to leave at a clients house, and she decided to take the little pups outside one more time. She was throwing a little cloth Frisbee to Barkley and watching Bitsy from her other eye and so she was turned sideways at a funny angle. This would have been o.k., but as she started to turn back, her foot slipped on the wet grass and ka-BOOM. Omi has fallen down the hill and broken her leg in two places. Just like Humpty Dumpty. That was a joke, by the way.
So instead of having a lovely Mother's Day celebration, Omi spent the day at the emergency room and now is propped up in her reclining chair and isn't all too thrilled at the current state of affairs. On Wednesday she will go see Dr. Tim Johnson, who was the wonderful person who patched up my Mom's shoulder in August when it was fractured (and not like a Fractured Prune). I hope she will not have to have any surgeries on her leg, but Dr. Tim is very smart and he will do the right thing.
Now Omi cannot walk dogs and care for cats, but because our company is full of such wonderful people we will all join together and help her out until she can walk around again on both of her legs.
Since we couldn't have our wonderful Mother's Day Brunch which was to have been Alaskan King Crab Legs and Steaks, we took little WillowBee instead for a farewell visit to her sister Peach. Peach is going to live down the road from us with some other of our neigbors who already have Skipper, Sally, Sugar and Huckleberry. They live on a big, big farm with cows and horses too, so Peach will have a wonderful life and it isn't so far away that we can't have a reunion from time to time.
While WillowBee was saying good-bye to Peach, she got to play with her brother Ripple, who will be staying in his home with Bee's Mom and Dad, making three next door to us. It was warm and so all the pups and Abby, the Mom decided to take a swim.

The problem however, is that the cover has yet to come off of the swimming pool, so there is not much water for swimming.
Our Bee is in the middle with the blue collar. She how small she is compared to Ripple, her big brother on the left. That is Abby, her Mom and under Abby's chin is Peach. We are so lucky to be able to see WillowBee AND some of her sisters and her brother grow up to be big dogs and our friends.
I am, however, very happy that I am not being a Nanny to ALL of them.

You can see what happened once we got our baby Willow home? She immediately took a nap in the sun so she can dry off.
There is no doubt that this little one is pure Labrador. I just hope I never have to jump in and save her, cause I sink to the bottom of the pool and don't come up easily. I did it twice and now I won't even go in the kiddie pool.
So. Even though we had a not very good happening in our home for Mother's Day and even though we missed out on our crabby legs and our steak, we are still happy. The reason is that we all live in the same home spaces and so it is very easy to help one another when something bad happens.
And, how could it not have been a good day, when you could always scoop up baby WillowBee and take a whiff of that sweet baby breath.
Happy Monday, the 11th of May
............... must be a special day, somewhere
Love and LIcks,
Bob

Poor Omi -- Hi Omi! I hope Bob is taking good care of you. I had an "Oma" when I was a puppy -- well, a little kid actually. She was my Dad mom. They were German and to differentiate from the Grandmothers, my English Grandmother was "Nana" and my German Grandmother was "Oma." (Like, even as a little kid, I couldn't tell them apart!)
Anyway, so much for my family history lesson. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I've never (yet) broken any bones, but my wife kinda did what you did -- she turned the wrong way in some damp grass, went down on all fours, and broke her wrist -- the wrist she works with (see does vascular scanning and does all her scanning with her right hand). Ouch! She ended up with two casts as she wiggled out of the first one during the night. (She's crafty, that one!) The swelling on her wrist had gone down and she was scratching an itch under the cast (wait until THAT happens) and suddenly she had the cast in her other hand. She started to giggle in the dark and I asked her what was so funny. She turned on the light and there was her cast without her arm in it! Actually I think she just wanted a different colored cast.
Made sure everyone takes good care of you. Tell Bob we want updates on how well you're being treated.
Your friend,
Erich from 2Dogs.
Thanks Uncle Erich for thinking about my Om and wishing her kind wishes and good Dogma. She is going to have a big operation on her broken up leg tomorrow.
She is having the same doctor that doctored up my Mom's shoulder and he did a really great job on my Mom. But he told my Omi he wasn't putting up with any craziness from her stubborn German side and if she didn't follow all his directions he would not be her doctor.
I guess you can determine from this that my Omi is a little bit stubborn? HA
We printed out your nice wishes and gave it to her to read while she is laying around on her bed (with Lily keeping her company). LIly is now the NurseDog. HA again. That might be a bit of a joke on poor Omi.
Love,
Bob
