Paws For Your Heart

Attention Friends (both 2-leg and 4-legs)

Tomorrow is the second annual Paws For Your Heart 5K Dog Walk to benefit the Loudoun County Animal Shelter and Douglass Community Center for Children's Programs.   Last year this event was pretty much a "sell out crowd"  (Mom says that meant that a LOT of people and their dogs came and had fun), so this year we expect an even bigger event.   This event is sponsored by Dr. Strickland and his wonderful vets and staff at Leesburg Vet and it is Free, Free, Free to come and have fun.

Registration for the walk starts at 8:00 AM and the actual 5K Run starts at 10:00 AM.

Do you know what that means?   5K?   I didn't know cause my Mom said it was a big secret and I was better off not knowing.   She thinks she is a real smarty pants every now and then and makes me guess stuff, but this time, I was just in the middle of having a nice cup of tea with my MP (Mouse Person), so HA!    We went to Google and looked it all up.
   See here!

Answer
:   5 km is about 3 miles. OR  To be exact, 5 kilometers = 3.10685596 miles

So now we have all learned something new for our brain.   Or, if you thought you knew the answer before then now you know that you were right and anyone who says different was wrong.    Isn't the Power of Knowledge a wonderful thing?

I don't want to get distracted off of the original topic of today's Blogging, but I did want to say that while I was out looking for the 5K answer, I also discovered a really cool place to travel to called dogtipper.com

I love to find new stuff, especially when I am not really looking to find it.    I haven't had a long time to study and report on this yet, but I think this place, dogtipper.com is going to be very useful to all of us.    This week-end on my day off (HA!) I will spend a lot of time with my Mouse Person and we will check out dogtipper.com and let you know our exhalted opinion of them, but initially, I think I might be impressed.

So Back to Tomorrow and Paws for Your Heart!
My Sister and my Mom will be there with a table full of information, and maybe if she is really good, little WillowBee will be able to join them.    Mom says if it is really hot, then bringing us all out to help might not be the best idea in the world, but that Bee is small and easy to transport so she might be able to go along.   This, as always sounds like just another excuse to leave Bob at home, but we'll see.   I have had a very, very busy week taking care of all of my invalids around here, so a morning of sleeping quietly in my crate doesn't sound all that bad to me right now.

Hot News!   Guess who will be there tomorrow?  Ms. Phoebe from
MY SQUEAKY BALL

If you have not yet met Ms. Phoebe or seen her wonderful toys, then you must make sure that you go to see her tomorrow and tell her that your friend BOB, the World's Only (perhaps) Blogging PitBull, Post Card Collector and Reporter Extra Ordinary, has sent you to see her and told you all about how wonderful the Squeaky Ball is and how he loves his own Squeaky Ball so much that he cannot go to sleep at night unless he gets to squeak it for at least 30 minutes before he nods off.   Whew!      But don't worry, tell your Mom and Dad that the squeaks are not annoying.

This is my friend, Moose, with some of his collection in his mouth.    I could as many balls as Moose does, but I prefer to concentrate my Squeaking on only the one that is my personal favorite at this time.  It's turquoise blue and brown and very, very, very soft.    I love it.   Next to Isaboo Ray, I can't think of anything I would rather sleep next to.

AND GUESS WHAT ELSE.   Fractured Prune DoNuts will be there!   Oh, my, oh, my.  You KNOW how I love Fractured Prune and my Mom better for darn sure bring me home a piece of one or she will be in big trouble.  Mom says you probably have to run a whole 26 mile Marathon to work off all the calories that are in Fractured Prunes, but who cares.    I think I can eat then run, eat then run, eat, etc. etc.     Jumping is always good too, and you know how high I can jump!  Right?

I bet I can go 5K straight up in the air.

So there will be so much to do and see and fun to be had tomorrow and Misunderstood Pit Bull Rescue People may be there, and of course, you know I support them, 100%, and our friends at Top Dog Salon, and TLC The LifeCentre, and Pony & Pooch (therapeutic massage) and  Chase Your Tail Bakery and BAZILLIONS OF OTHER PLACES who are helping with money, or support, or having an exhibit.

Needless to say.   Everyone who is anyone will be there.   Don't miss it.   Be sure to come.  Don't oversleep.   If there is rain, wear a jacket.   If it is sunny, wear a sun hat and shades!  HA.

AND GET THIS.......... DO YOU KNOW WHO WILL BE GIVING A DEMONSTRATION?

Yea if you recognized her.  It's "Jimmy" The Arson Detective K-9 from the Fire Marshall's Office.     Jimmy began her young career with Guiding Eyes for the Blind, a New York-based nonprofit guide dog school. From there she went to Puppies Behind Bars, a program in which prison inmates in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are assigned to raise puppies that will later work for law enforcement agencies or as service dogs for people with disabilities.

Then she was acquired by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which, in turn, offered her to Loudoun.

I'm excited to hear all about Jimmy because this is obviously a skill I could learn and then in addition to everything else I already do, maybe I can be a FireMan Dog too.

So --- have fun tomorrow and send me lots of e-mails and comments and tell me all about your day.

Love and Licks,

Bob
