Artscape! 2009

I'm pretty sure you remember us talking (a lot) about our friend, DanaMarie, who lives in Baltimore and is the most fabulous Soft Sculpture and all around wonderful artist.    She makes little creatures called Knitimals and we have a Knitimal of me, Bob, and one of  Princess Daisy too.

In case you forgot what our Knitimals Look LIke.... here we are:

I never figured out why The Princess got to pose in this photo with both of our Kinimals, but she did and as it was obviously a fun thing for her to do, I'm not going to complain about it now.     Besides, I have it on good authority that the Princess is following my Blogging from The Bridge, and I wouldn't want her to think I was saying anything badly about her.

So anyway.... back to DanaMarie, who we have never gotten to meet in person, but who you can meet this very week-end if you are in the Baltimore, Maryland area.      This is the big week-end for ARTCSCAPE and you really, really need to think about going.

What is Artscape?
The largest free public arts festival in the country, Artscape features 150+ artists, fashion designers and craftspeople; visual art exhibits on and off site, including exhibitions, outdoor sculpture, art cars, photography and the Janet & Walter Sondheim Prize; incredible live concerts on three outdoor stages; a full schedule of performing arts including dance, opera, theater, fashion, film, experimental music and performances by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra; family events such as hands-on projects, demonstrations, competitions, children’s entertainers and multiple street theater locations; and a delicious, international menu of food and beverages that is available throughout the festival site.

Wow!   That is a lot of stuff in one place, and my Mom and I are really disappointed.   My sis, Lydia, took off on a huge flying metal bird this mornnig for California, so my Mom says we cannot make a RoadTrip to Baltimore (where both of my Mom's parents were born, BTW), without Lydia.      I thought we could pull it off, but Mom says next year we can PLAN on it.

I want to see DanaMarie, of course, but I bet there is some awfully fine food at Artscape too.   Maybe DanaMarie can have a nibble for me.

DanaMarie just keeps coming up with more and more wonderful creatures and now she has something called
a Recyclimal (think Knitimal, but made out of 100% upcycled materials);

This is Re-Lena:

She's made entirely out of donated sweaters and baby blankets, giving once loved fibers a chance to be re-loved. Like with Knitimals, Recyclimals are entirely HAND SEWN (no machines) and made without patterns, so they are completely one of a kind. Re-Lena and his friends will be available for adoption at Artscape next weekend!

If you have an old sweater you'd like to donate? Bring it by
THE GREENSTAR STUDIO BOOTH        and receive 10% off one item!
Have an old sweater or blanket you'd like to have made into a Recyclimal? Place your order at Artscape and receive a 20% discount off the regular price of a custom doll!

See?   I told you Ms. DanaMarie was very creative!

So be sure to go and find her and please, please, please tell her that your friend Bob sent you to see her.   Here are the directions, straight from DanaMarie, so we hope they are right.    HA.

Hope to see you at Artscape 09!
You can find me along Mt. Royal Ave, in the Artists' Market. I'll be in booth #E114, on the east side of Mt Royal, in front of the Fox Building (Brick building next to the glass building)... or if you've been before, I'm in the same spot i always am!

And, if you can get your Mouse to take you there..... here is the cyberspace address for Artscape 2009.  Have fun!  Send me a PostCard!

Love and Licks,

Bob
