Beyond the Rainbow
It seems that every single day we are hearing of our friends who have been diagnosed with Canine Cancer and many of them have passed away to The RainBow Bridge to join up with our Princess Daisy.
We are so proud to be working with Luke and Da'Boys who are busily hiking the Appalachian Trail (well a very small part of it) right now on their 2000 plus a lot more miles walking from Austin to Boston. You know ALL about Luke and Da'Boys from my Blogging, but don't forget that the 2010 CANCER CAN'T KEEP A GOOD DOG CALENDAR submissions are still open and will be until August 15.
Our friend Erich is in charge of the Two Dogs Daily reports and he sent me this reminder so I want to make sure I pass it on to everyone that I know.
Calendar – OK, the deadline is now firmly etched in stone. I have been told the final deadline for calendar submissions is Saturday, August 15th. Deadline time for submissions is 12 midnight, Eastern Standard Time. We bumped it back because of summer since many people don't have time to get their stories and photos in during vacation time. But we have now set a firm date. Please keep those submissions coming. Send your stories and photos to: calendar@2dogs2000miles.org .
I am the one compiling the submissions, so if you haven't received an email confirmation from me within 48 hours, send an email directly to me at erich@2dogs2000miles.org . I try to be on top of confirmations so if you have sent a story and haven't received an email back, write me! I don't want to miss anybody. As a matter of fact, in the next Daily I think I will put a list of all the submissions I have received so far. If you do not see your pup's name, WRITE ME!
For info on what to send (story and picture size) please see our blog at: http://2dogs2000miles.blogspot.com/2009/06/its-time-for-2010-calendar-submissions.html
At the end of Erich's Daily yesterday, he included this poem, which I wanted to share
Beyond The Rainbow
As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.
~~ c.g. - 1995
After you have had a chance to dry up your eyes and take a deep breath, let me know if anyone knows who might have written these wonderful words. Erich says he couldn't find a source for them, but we were curious.
And on to my point, cause you know I always have one -----
I communicate almost every morning with our wonderful Princess Daisy, who has now been promoted to CEO in Charge of Social Events at The Bridge. Daisy was, as you all remember, probably THE most social dog ever, and of course she had her very own set of rules, regulations and (some call it) etiquette, so she will be perfect in her new job. Daisy and I were chatting and we thought that it would be the very best thing EVER, if Daisy got together with our dear BFF MS. TRACIE HOTCHNER , and that together the two of them wrote a book about life at The Bridge (from Daisy's perspective, of course).
Ms. Tracie has agreed to do this with The Princess and work will commence shortly on this amazing undertaking. Frankly, I am not at all sure how I will ever manage to get all the information from Daisy and transmit it to Tracie and back and forth and back and forth, because you KNOW I am busy with my own working too, but the ladies say that I MUST be involved or they won't be able to pull it off. Frankly (or can I say - Bobly?)..... I am a bit frightened. Acting as the go-between is always a tough spot, but can you imagine....... between The Princess and Auntie Tracie? Oh Geeze...... maybe I should just crawl in a hole right now and pull it in after me.
But, being the wonderful Boy Bloginator and PitBull Reporter Extra Ordinary that I am, I will see this through. I KNOW how much this will mean to so many, many people. To have happy news from The Bridge will be amazing, won't it?
So, I'm off now to have a nice long nap. Between this new project and all the work to be done for Luke & The Boys when they come to Loudoun County, I am not going to have much time for napping in the next few months.
Love and Licks and HAPPY FRIDAY!
Your friend,
BOB

Your friend,
BOB

Darling Bob - Fret not. Daisy and I will really only need you for the channeling, it doesn't take but a milli-second each time, I am told, and won't interrupt your duties as Bob the Boy Blogger. Just go with the flow - we are al dying (sic) to know what goes on Over the Rainbow Bridge and now Daisy can fill us in. Rest up, especially the psychic/spiritual/karmic side of yourself. We'll be needing it.
Oh thank you so much, Auntie Tracie. I have been so worried about how I will find all the time necessary to do all the things I have assigned to me to do. Blogging, Tweeting, Good-Will Ambassador, Reporter Extra Ordinary, and the list goes on. Plus, I was hoping to have just a little time to actually meet with one of the ladies on my list of potential girlfriend material. Having ruled out Isaboo Ray, I am now wanting to fit in a RoadTrip to NewJersey to meet Jaimie.
And then, of course, there are my Nanny duties (still going on) and the fact that every once in a great while I need to eat.
With all that discussed however, I must say, I am excited.
Love,
Bob
