Lily Gets a Job

We have finally found meaningful work for our LIly of the Valley.     She is our newest Dog Walker/Pet Sitter and has been "riding shotgun" while her Mom (my Lydia sister) does her regularly scheduled visits and errands.

Frankly, whereas this sounds like a sort of an o.k. fun job, I think it is not something I could do, nor would I want to.     I like riding in the car, don't get me wrong, but after a couple of stops, I'm ready to head back home and take a nap.   Evidently, Lily has the ability to go all day if necessary.

Lydia says that Lily's biggest job entails something called Seat Warming.    This means that when Lydia gets out of the car to go into a home visit, or run an errand, Lily hops onto the driver seat and takes over guard duty and seat warming.    Lily has a very HOT butt, meaning that it is almost always warm.    I think that is from her fat deposits, but Mom says I could get into a lot of trouble going down that road.     I think if ZZ Top can sing about Fat Bottom Girls making the World Go Round, then I have no problem in talking about a Fat Bottom Bulldog.

By the end of the day's visits, or at least once during the day, Lily also does the banking business.

Here she is, making sure that the teller is doing a proper job and of course, (don't try to fool me) waiting for her biscuit to come flying out of the tube.
Those flying tubes are amazing aren't they?    The first time I saw it, I was, frankly, terrified.   I put my head down and covered my eyes and refused to even look at the biscuit for several minutes.   Who knew?  It could have been anything flying into that box.   I was sure it wasn't a tube crammed full of money, but I didn't suspect that it was a dog biscuit.   And the noise.   It is horrific.       Again, I leave this stuff up to Lily, as obviously she is calm, cool and collected awaiting the arrival of the tube o' treats.

And of course, as the day progresses, Lily does finally give in and require a nippy nap.      This, is my idea of working.

Ah, a day in the life of a BullDog.

It is important for dogs to have a job.   Lily just isn't cut out to do important work like Blogging and Tweeting, but as for providing companship, warm seats and soothing snooring noises, she seems to be quite well qualified.

Roll on, Lily, roll on.

Love and Licks,

Nice to see that Lily is keeping things running while you all are a little....busy....this week. Go get 'em girl!

    Dear Oakmont and Mom

Princess Daisy was always the ShotGun BullDog.  She absolutely loved to go with her Omi on visits and raced to the car if she thought there was a chance to go along.   It was so cute to see them go off in the evening and The Princess took her responsibilites very seriously.

Obviously LIly is going to follow in her footprints.   Now that the weather is cooling off she will be able to go more often.

But her favorite place is the bank and the tube o' treats.

And Oakmont is ready to assume her shotgun duties as well...thank goodness the summer heat is over...she knows all the "secret" businesses that have the extra special dog treat jar.

Would Oakmont like to sell her list of places to get free treats?    We figure it is worth a LOT!

Hi to everyone from MA! Doggy pats all around! Just wanted to say that I laughed out loud when I read this post. Bob, you and your mom are awesome writers! You know how to tell a good story. Sounds like Lily has now found her perfect job, too. Bob, we already know that you've found yours, and you do it very well.

    Hi Ms. Beth

I'm glad you think that my Blogging Business is good writing.   You know, when my Sister, Princess Daisy, passed away, I didn't think I could fill up her paw prints.   But I got a lot of encouragement and I love my job.   I think I really am a PitBull Boy Bloginator Reporter Extra Ordinary.

I'm happy you think so too!

    Love and LIcks,

    Bob
