Our MacKenzie at The White House

MacKenzie is on the left of the photo graph, and she is the one that Mr. President Obama is obviously talking to about that day's events.
This is what our Lisa tells us about how it came to be that MacKenzie got to meet everyone at The White House:
"We got the call from the Girl Scout Office telling us that the White House had contacted the Girl Scout Office of the Nations Capital telling them that President Obama was going to sign the Bill supporting the production of a new 2010 Commerative Coin with the Girl Scout Logo on it. He was going to sign it on the Thursday afternoon, and the Girl Scouts of the Nations Capital was allowed to invite 6 girls to witness the signing.
MacKenzie just happened to be one of the girls they thought would be a good pick to represent the Girl Scouts. So, along with the other 5 girls, she went to the Whitehouse and was ushered into the Oval Office, where she got to meet President Obama, The First Lady and their dog "Bo"!
He asked each girl a question and spent some talking to each of them. No media or cameras were allowed, but afterwards, they sent us this official picture. MacKenzie said that he was asking her about what she likes best about her troop. She explained to him that because of all the therapy she does, she doesn't belong and participate in a regular troop anymore, but helps the Girl Scouts out sometimes in different events. She told him that she's said speeches to the Girl Scouts, and he asked her if they were "motivational speeches" and she said "yes".
She was very honored to have had this opportunity, and said that both President Obama and his wife were very nice people. She felt very comfortable with both of them."
Isn't that just so exciting? We are really proud of our MacKenzie. And because I am such a good PitBull Reporter Extra Ordinary and you know I always like to find out all of the facts, and I wanted to find a picture of the coin, but it won't be minted until 2013, so the only picture I found was incorrect and I could not use facts that weren't right. But I did find out this information:
The Girl Scouts USA Centennial Commemorative Coin Act, or H.R. 621, was introduced on Jan. 21 by Rep. Jack Kingston. (A nearly identical bill, S. 451, was introduced in the Senate by Sen. Susan Collins on Feb. 25.) When H.R. 621 is signed into law, it will authorize the United States Mint to strike up to 350,000 commemorative proof and uncirculated silver dollars to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Girl Scouts of the USA.
The Girl Scouts Centennial Commemorative Coin will be minted in 2013, marking the end of the celebration of the first 100 years and the beginning of their second century of leadership. Proceeds from the sale of the coin will be used for critically needed restoration and improvements to the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace. This investment will protect this national treasure and ensure it continues to inspire and benefit current and future Girl Scouts for years to come.
Girl Scouts was founded on March 12, 1912, when Juliette Gordon Low organized the first two troops consisting of 18 members in Savannah, Georgia. Today, Girl Scouts is the largest voluntary association for women and girls in the United States. More than 50 million women have been Girl Scouts, including 58 percent of the women in Congress.
So I got to thinking that I should be a Scout. After all, if there are Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, then there should be Dog Scouts, don't you think.
AND GUESS WHAT? There is Dog Scouts of America and you can go and find out all about them if you wake up your Mouse Person and ask him to take you to visit their web site

The purpose of Dog Scouts is to promote responsible dog ownership and increase the awareness of the importance of the human/canine bond. The Local Troop is Troop 185 Dulles Dog Scouts, and if you want more information you can ask your Mouse to help you find them in cyberspace Once you have joined your local troop your dog can earn badges, just like the Boy and Girl Scouts of America do. Isn't that exciting?
My Sister says that if WillowBee ever gets some manners, that she is going to join up and then she will let me know how it is. Mom says one of the test questions is "do you tolerate other dogs?" and because of that, I might not be the best bet to represent our dog family. You know, I don't mean to do it, but I do get scared if a big dog looks at me incorrectly. Mom says I best stick to Reporting. Geeze. But that's an important job too, so maybe I could be an Honorary Dog Scout. HA.
So now you know about our MacKenzie and how she got to meet The President and the First Lady and Bo too. We are very, very proud of you, MacKenzie, and thank you for taking care of little dogs when they come to stay in your home with your Mom. Did you get a badge for that?
Love and Licks,
Bob
