My Friend Holly
This was our friend Toni, and her dog is Holly, who we really, really loved. Holly used to come up to our home for Doggy Day Care sometimes, and I really liked to play with her. I think I am very jealous, because I might like to live on a boat. Or not. It would be scary to fall off.
Holly is a Schipperke, and if you aren't familiar with that breed, I went off to visit my friends at Wikipedia to find you some information.
This is what I learned for you:
Schipperkes are either single or double coated with a soft, fluffy undercoat that is covered by a harsher-feeling and longer outer coat. One of the breed characteristics is a long ruff that surrounds the neck and then a strip trails down towards the rear of the dog. They also have longer coat on their hind legs called culottes.
Dogs of this breed usually weigh between 3 and 9 kg (7 to 20 lb). The Schipperke puppies are born with tails in different lengths. In Canada and the United States, they are usually docked the day after birth. In countries that have bans on docking, the Schipperkes display their natural tails which curve over the back of the dog (if the dog is happy and the tail is long enough).
The Schipperke is also known as the "little black fox", "Tasmanian black devil" and "little black devil," often because they can be stubborn, mischievous, and headstrong because they are naturally curious and high-energy dogs. Schipperkes are very smart and independent, and sometimes debate listening to owners and doing whatever benefits them the most.
I think that this definition is very good...... especially the part about debating on the listening skills. HA.
Here is a picture of my friend Holly doing a job on her boat.
This job is called Guarding the Hose. That hose is putting water into the boat and Holly is guarding it to make sure it does only what it is supposed to do. Unfortunately you cannot see Holly's little face very well in this picture, but I assure you it is very cute.
And get this. Holly has a BLOG of her own, and although she just started to write it, I think it will be pretty good. You can go and visit Holly at her Blogging Place if you ask your Mouse Person to fly you off to A Life Aquatic Please make lots of comments so that Holly will write a LOT more. I am very, very interested in how she manages to keep from falling off the boat.
Love and Licks,
Bob
