My Favorite Brother
Seems like I am always talking about WillowBee and Lily Love Bug, but I don't really talk to much about my favorite brother, Rusty. Well, actually, he is my ONLY brother, since I am surrounded by girlie dogs here at my home. My Rusty is truly my bestest brother and I love him like crazy. (Well, except for that time we got into a little bit of an argument.....but he started it).
My Mom rescued Rusty via Dachshund Rescue at Blue Ridge Vet Services in Purcellville and that was several years ago. We really don't know how old he is, but we think he is probably about 10. That probably makes him half done as far as lives are concerned, as those little dogs with the short legs manage to live long, long lives. Probably because he is so spoiled rotten.
Rusty had a bit of a hard life before coming to our home. He has a chronic fungus condition sort of thing that grows on his belly and his little feet, and when we got him he sorta looked like the Elephant Man.... his little legs often look like he is wearing gray color leggings --- you know - like the ballerinas wear? And he has no fur on his belly. He gets a LOT of baths with some special shampoo, but not as many now as when we first got him ---- then he was getting a bath every three days. Good for my Mom that Rusty fits quite nicely in the kitchen sink.
So now he eats special food (Wellness: WhiteFish and Sweet Potato) and although we tried lots, and lots, and lots of other special foods (thanks to our friends at Halo - Purely for Pets and at The Honest Kitchen because they sent so many samples and suggestions for Rusty to try. For some bizarre reason, so long as he dines only on the Whitefish and Sweet Potato recipe from the Wellness brand, he is A-OK.
Funny how it goes with food, isn't it? I can pretty much eat anything except that I am so darn picky it makes my Mom into a crazy woman. Scarlett eats whatever I am eating at the time. She has, my Mom says, an Iron Stomach --- probably because she is a Rat Terrior and in their background they may have snacked on a few rodents from time to time..... yuck. But even with all the gluten free diets, and very special food that Mom prepared, whitefish and sweet potatoes seems to be the only thing our little man can digest and stay healthy (and not lose weight)
Rusty also gets an allery shot about every three weeks, and this was because our wonderful Photo Taking Person, Bev Hollis, is also the vet who cares for Rusty, and when she decided to take him on as her special cause, and lot's of allergy tests, etc. etc. the difference in his life became amazing. He even has hair on the tops of his feets now. They used to be bald!
So enough about Rusty's diet. What I wanted to talk about, was Rusty's Photo Graphs. A few months ago our wonder woman photo taker, Bev Hollis did a charity photo shoot to raise money to buy a bullet proof vest for our Loudoun K-9 dogs, and Rusty got to go and get his pictures taken. It was really hard for us to choose just one of the many wonderful ones, but we did get two that we have blown up BIG for the office. I wanted to share some of them with you and we'll pretend that today is Rusty's Birthday or something else special and that's why we are writing about him. HA!
So get ready for some great shots of our Little Man:

AND IN CLOSING; HERE IS OUR VERY FAVORITE OF ALL: We Call this "The Nose"

Mom & Lydia say that Rusty's nose looks like Scottie Pippen, the basketball player....... ya know? I think they might be right.

What do you think? Is Rusty's nose more Roman and more wonderful than that of Scottie Pippen? In which case, do you think Rusty should have a Tee-Shirt graphic that says
"No One Nose LIke Rusty Nose?"
Ha
Love and Licks,
Bob

Awwwww, Rusty is so cute and he DOES have a more wonderful nose than Scottie Pippen... by a mile!! Once again, Bev Hollis has done a great job of capturing the great personality of our animal friends. Good for you for rescuing Rusty and giving him the charmed life he deserves.
Love,
Blazer, Kitty Kimber & Vicki
