Solving my Problem

Well this is interesting.

Everyone knows how I feel about that bad, bad man, Michael Vick.   I do not like him at all, and whereas I really do believe that everyone is entitled to a second (or even a third) chance, in his case I cannot bring myself to extend this courtesy to him.

The Victory Dogs have been a cause of mine every since they were first rescued from Mr. Vick's home in Virginia and my sister, Lydia, has even met and worked with some of them when she volunteered at Best Friends Animal Society  in Utah.

I understand that Mr. Vick was supposed to appear on the Oprah Show and that he has cancelled.  Good.   I do not want my friend Oprah to be close to this man.     I have never been shy about telling everyone how much my "sister" Princess Daisy wanted to meet Oprah before the Princess passed away.   Sadly, it was never to be.   But I still like, and respect, Ms. Oprah and frankly, I think that even having a passing thought about having Michael Vick on her show was a bad, bad idea.      See.   Oprah gets another chance.

Because you know what a fine Pit Bull Boy Bloginator and Reporter Extra Ordinary I am (and always have been ---- except when I was very young and really knew nothing), I read the Christian Science Monitor among other things and this is what they had to say

It would have been great theater. Former successful quarterback, sent to prison for running a dog fighting ring, makes triumphant return in 2010, leading the Eagles to the playoffs.

But that won't happen now. After initially agreeing to appear, Vick has told Oprah he's not coming.

Thursday, a report out of Philadelphia had the Eagles denying they had anything to do with Vick's pulling out of the show.

A Dallas radio talk show host says he and others who adopted dogs rescued from Vick's operation were pressuring Winfrey to allow their voices to be heard during the show that was scheduled to be broadcast Feb. 24. There has been some speculation that Vick did not want to face that gauntlet of dog lovers.

I found this quote:

"Unfortunately, Michael Vick has backed out of an opportunity to face tough questions regarding his participation in animal cruelty, including the torture of his own family pets," the "Richard Hunter Show" host told usatoday.com. "There was an overwhelming call from the dog adopters and their advocates to Oprah to have our voices included in the episode, and that may have been more than Mr. Vick was willing to endure."

I really have not spoken to Mr. Hunter, but I am totally unsure about his statement of "including his own family pets"
This is totally disturbing, do you not think?       Mr. Vick actually considered some of these poor unfortunate dogs as "pets".......   Please!

So you see.   I am trying to get to the heart of the matter here.

It has been reported that last December, Mr. Vick wanted to have a new dog in his life however, Mr. Vick was convicted on federal dogfighting charges in 2007 and served 19 months at the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth,
Kan. It was disclosed during the trial that the animals in his care that fell short in competition were tortured and killed.

A condition of his release is that he would never again own a dog.

"I could take care of an animal in my household. If they want to monitor me doing it, then they can," said Vick, who noted he had dogs ranging from a beagle to a mixed breed growing up in  Virginia

Since being released, Vick has made appearances on behalf of the Humane Society as well as addressing various students groups on the lessons he's learned.

"Whatever animal I'd have would live a happy life," Vick said. "I know that."

Well, well, well.      If I was a pup, interviewing to go and live with Mr. Vick, I would QUICKLY do some alternative thinking.     Honestly?  I would rather go to the local Animal Shelter (or stay there if I was already there)   And that is saying a lot.

So what to do, what to do?

FIRST AND FOREMOST.     Ms. Oprah, if  you truly love your own dogs and I am CERTAIN that you do, then please, just pass and do not invite Mr. Vick onto your show unless you are willing to have a LOT of folks with other opinions on at the same time.

SECOND?

This comes to the "Solving my Problem" part of this little story.

It is about the stinkbugs we are currently plagued with here in Virginia.

This is what they look like:

Last year, the Washington Post had this to say:

Shaped like shields and armed with an odor, dime-size brown bugs are crawling into area homes over windowsills, through door crevices and between attic vents in such numbers that homeowners talk about drowning them in jars of soapy water, suffocating them in plastic bags or even burning them with propane torches. In the process, some people are unwittingly creating another problem: When squashed or irritated, the bugs release the distinctive smell of sweaty feet.

Stink Bugs are awful.   They are terrible.   They get into everything in our home and they buzz our bed at night.  Sometimes we roll over on one and mush it and IT STINKS SO BAD it wakes us up.

This is my suggestion, for ALL the people who are currently made miserable by these awful bugs:    LET US SEND THEM ALL TO MR. MICHAEL VICK.    We should find out his schedule and find out where he is currently residing and we should MAIL him ALL of our bugs.

Every time he gets a bug, he will remember that he was NOT a nice person.

Love and Licks,

I, too, cannot forgive Michael Vick nor can I condone a second chance. He's never been truly remorseful for his deeds. He was a grown man and knew better to torture animals. He got pleasure from torturing animals. When all the dogs he tortured and killed forgive him, so will I. Guess that mean NEVER.

Gosh, Bob, I agree with you 100% that Michael Vick should never be given a second chance. Why he is allowed to play pro-football for any team is beyond me. It just goes to show that some people, or organizations, have no morals, whatsoever! What Vick did is despicable! And, if we had to nasty stink bugs here in Portland, OR, I would gladly send them to him! I think that's a great idea.
