Totally Relaxed

This morning, our kitty, Beijing, had to go to the vet --- nothing wrong with her, just needed to have her annual check up - got weighed - and a few shots.  Nothing major.

Going to visit the vet is not something I want to do too often.    It's not like I do not like our doctor because I think that all of the vets who care for our family   (which is fairly large at this point) are wonderful.    I just prefer to stay home.    Mom says perhaps I am turning in to a recluse.   Funny.   I was thinking the same thing about her.

It is a family tradition that when one is faced with a trip to the vet, one is allowed to fly off into some sort of trance state and the end result is one of total relaxation.    If you do not believe that anyone can fall asleep on the exam table, here is the proof:

That's our Kitty!      Nothing in the world to worry about.    Dreaming of mice and moles.     Totally calm.

We have been thinking that Beijing may be a bit on the "heavy" side.    Translate?   That Cat is Fat!     However, as it turns out, there is some truth to the statement:  "I'm not fat, I'm fluffy".....   at a mere 13 pounds, Beijing came away with a good bill of health.     Perhaps a little less kibble as a late night snack, but really - all in all ---   she is the picture of radiant good cat health.

When our Beijing Kitty came to live with us, we had been hoping for "an outdoor cat" for a very long time.  As we are living in the woods, we had lots of mice, little moles, and other creatures lurking around in our barn, garden shed and garage.    We thought perhaps a kitty could help us with these creatures, and that perhaps she might encourage them to go live elsewhere.

Beijing however, has exceeded all expectations in the Clean Up the Rodent department and has been promoted to Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Status.      In the Spring and Summer she pretty much tends to bring us some sort of little gift or another almost every day.      I do, frankly, feel a tad bit sorry for the little creatures, but Mom says that sometimes we have to remember The Circle of Life.

Because we had not had a cat as a member of our family for many, many, many years, the first thing we did was get out our handy dandy, ever trustful, Cat Bible.      This is something that every cat person needs to be sure to include in their library.

Tracie Hotchner  has been our friend for years and years and we ADORE her.     She is amazing, wonderful, funny, and VERY smart.

When you find your Mouse Person  (and please reassure him that Beijing has no interest whatsoever in meeting him)   please ask him to fly you off to visit Tracie on her wonderful home on the Internet

You will learn so MUCH and have a lot of fun when you are learning it, and it goes without saying that Tracie is also a Dog Diva and has written a Dog Bible too.

AND --- she has some award winning Radio Shows!

If you would like to order a copy of The Cat Bible, it is very easy to do:

CLICK on this link to go directly to Amazon and buy The Cat Bible.
A portion of the author's proceeds from every book goes to animal charities.

Click here for the list of supported charities.

See?      Wasn't that simple.    Even a Mouse Person can do it.

More proof that Beijing is a very happy kitty:

As you can see, Beijing is probably dreaming of running in the sunshine, chasing little mice creatures and hoping for a nice can of cat food when she gets back from her travels.     HA.

I must say, if one has to have a cat in the family, having one like Beijing is highly recommended.

Love and Licks,
