The Wicked Witch

Oh My

I am terribly worried today.   It is so windy here at our home in Leesburg, Virginia, and I suspect that very soon trees will be crashing down on our property.

As you may know  (because I have reported on this) we live in the woods in Leesburg and we have a LOT of old trees around our home.    Sometimes when the weather is really bad, they will come crashing down.   So far, nothing has crashed on my head, but I know, without a doubt, that this could happen at any minute.

Today I am especially afraid.

My Mom used to live in Kansas.    She was trapped in a basement in a tornado once --- well actually it chased her home while she was trying to get to safety.   Yipes.   She says she just made it in the nick of time.     What if that happens here?  We don't really have a basement.     Oh boy.

Oh My

Listen to me.   Do you think that because I am a PitBull I am brave?   HA.      I am going to admit it right now.   I am NOT brave.     All day the winds have been whipping around our office windows and do you know what..... my Mom foolishly has actually opened one of them to "let in some fresh air after the winter"     Oh My.

Right away a picture blew right off the wall and onto the floor.

Oh My.

Thankfully, my little brother, Rusty, has a VERY large crate in our office.    I know, don't even ask me why he has a BIG box and the rest of us have small boxes.   Mom says it is something to do with the fact that Rusty spends a LOT of time confined because of his back problems.    Anyway..... today?   I am crammed into the back of that box so far that my Mom says I might as well go live in the storeroom.

Maybe I should.     I just thank my lucky stars above that soon it will be time to go into our house and then I can bury my head under the covers.

How much danger do you think I am in?

Oh My.

Oh Bob! It's okay to be scared. I love bad weather but sometimes when it lightnings very close and the thunder is unusually loud it makes me jumpy, too. It sends my dogs scurrying under my feet. Living on the Texas coast we get lots of wind from hurricanes. It can be very scary. Doesn't mean you aren't brave, just smart!

Oh Boy Bob you aren't kidding about this Wind. We have lost 2 trees up here on the mountain by Charles Town WV. Janey the Great Pyr is trying to hide under the bed but only her head fits.

    Oh, Bob!

As long as you stay in your crate, you should be fine. Those old trees can be worrisome, though. Here in Portland, OR we get extremely high winds and they can blow at 35 mi./hr and gust to over 50 mi./hr! And, in the heavily forested parts of town some trees do cause terrific damage. I say that if you hear a sharp cracking noise then you need to duck or run for cover!

I'll bet your Mom was scared to death when that tornado hit. Thankfully she made it into the basement in time. Since you no longer have the luxury of having a basement, I'll bet your Mom already knows that the safest spot would be the smallest room in your house or the bathroom.

Good luck, my friend. I don't blame you for being scared. Sit in your Mom's lap (like I do) if you get too nervous.

Love, Blazer & Kitty Kimber, too!
