Going to Spain
Guess where my sister, Lydia, is going in just a few short days? OK, so you read the title of this blogging and you guessed it --- yep ---- she is going to Spain. Lydia and our good friend, Diane, are going to the Medina del Campo area of Spain to help at Scooby Medina which has been protecting animals for over 20 years. Scooby Medina is sort of the Spanish version of our Best Friends Animal Society in Utah, and if you remember Lydia went there a couple of summers ago and worked there for several days.
It is a long way from Utah to Spain, I am thinking, and I am also wondering if Lydia knows that she must get a Tetanus Shot before she tries to get on the airplane. Just thinking that she isn't too fond of getting shots, so this is really a good way to figure out how badly she wants to make this trip.
Our friend Diane has been volunteering at Scooby for several years and the last time she went was in 2009. She kept a little blog and if you would like to see a LOT of photo graphs about that trip, then find your Mouse and ask him to fly you off to see Diane's pictures

Here is a good one.
Scooby North America was started to link us to Scooby Medina in Spain so that everyone can learn about Scooby and the good work that they are doing to help the Spanish Galgo. This is a story that I have told you about in my blogging on several occasions, so you can go back and read all about the sad, sad story of the Galgo dogs and learn how you can help them.
But today's Blog is about THE TRIP and the excitement and all the happiness that will come along when Miss Diane and my sister, Lyd, get on that airplane and fly off to Spain. I have a feeling that they are going to be working very, very hard, but I am also thinking that there will be a lot of giggling going on when these two get together. I know that Lydia and Diane will be sending us pictures and stories every single day of their trip, and of course, I will be letting you know exactly what is happening.
And for sure I will be telling you all about:
and how you can help!
Meanwhile, Scooby needs to raise some money.
Here is a very nice letter that we received from Miss Diane:
Dear Friends:
It is hard to believe that this year will be our Third Scooby North America Auction. Actually, we are having 2 auctions this year. One in June and another in December. In the past two years, with your help, we have raised enough money to help install a much needed tile floor in the Hospital and Surgery Center and to build numerous brick shelters in the paddocks at the Scooby Animal Refuge in Medina del Campo, Spain.
This year we are hoping that with your generosity we can build a much needed puppy house. The puppy house will be fully insulated, including the floor. There will be whelping boxes for mom and her pups and a doggy door for the mothers to use the outside areas before the puppies are ready. There will also be room for them to play and romp around and of course beds for them to sleep without always having to be under foot.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
We are currently seeking donations of all kinds --- travel offers, dinners, art work, clothing, stationary, signage, jewelry and of course any pet related items.
Please include the value, a description and your name and/or group name of the donating party; this will be a tremendous help in organizing the auction.
Donations can be mailed to:
Scooby North America
115 Courier Court NE
Leesburg, VA 20176
Attn: Diane Ward
All donation for the June auction must be received by May 15, 2011. If you'd like to include an item for our December auction as well, we would greatly appreciate your generosity.
Financial donations are, of course, appreciated and can be made by visiting the Scooby North America Website: http://www.scoobynorthamerica.org and click on the Donate Today! button. If you'd like to mail a check, please make it payable to Scooby North America and mail it to the above address. For Canadian residents, please contact us at info@scoobymedina.com for donation options.
Whether you make a financial donation or donate an item to the auction, your donations can help save the lives of some very special animals, so please give generously.
We're saying thank you in advance and your efforts will be warmly appreciated and graciously acknowledged. If you have any questions or would like a copy of our 501(c)3 letter, please feel free to email Diane at diane@scoobymedina.com
Sincerely,
The Scooby Team
I think that this pretty much explains it, don't you? All the information is here and because you are my friends, I know that ALL of you will help make a donation to the Silent Auction or send some money or do something wonderful that will really help The Scooby Team help make the lives of the animals at Scooby Medina to be better than it is now.
