Let's Go Somewhere!

It's Summer!

You know what that means for some lucky dogs?    Road Trip!      I don't think I'll be going anywhere this summer because my Mom drove her car through quite a bit of water (actually it was sorta a river at the time)  in one of our last big rain-storms and so we have no "wheels" right now.    This is a problem.  I can assure you.

Anyway..... if you live in a family with a working car, then the very best vacation for a dog might be a Family Trip.   Or not.   (but we'll talk about that later).

I have been investigating some products that you might want to look into if you are planning to do any traveling.  One of our favorite ones is the
Petpac  which come from a company called FreshVac.

Each Petpac includes an easy to carry bag with spaces to store toys, leashes, clean-up baggies, or medicine, as well as two containers for food and treats and two food and water dishes.     Isn't that amazing?
And you can get lots of fun prints on your bag and the price is good too at around $35.

Unfortunately, bad things happen to good dogs, and you might want to make sure that your Mom has a Pet First Aid Kit in the car all the time.     We like the one from
Pet Travel Center

You can even get special kits for your bird, your cat, or even for your Ferret
                                      Yep.    Ferret's need love too.

The website for The Pet Travel Center is very, very helpful and you really should have your Mouse Person take you there before you start your trip:

Here are some of the things that you can find on their web-site:

Pet Travel Products, Pet-Friendly Hotels and Pet Resources

  • Find the best pet travel products in our online pet store to make getting around with pets "fun and easy."
  • Search for pet-friendly hotels, attractions, RV parks, dog parks, and campgrounds. Get low Internet rates by booking from PetTravelCenter.com's worldwide listings or by clicking on the pet-friendly ads on our website.
  • Locate a veterinarian or pet hospital in the area where you plan to travel or where you live.
  • Get tips for traveling with pets using various modes of transportation and sharing in recreational activities with pets.
  • Read pet articles by leading pet experts and submit your own.
  • Sign up for the PTC Club, which includes a monthly newsletter that features the latest trends in pet travel, new product offerings, and important tips you should know before and after you hit the road, trail or sky. It's free!
Doesn't that seem like it will be helpful for you when you are planning your trip?

You know what else you need to have in your car?   A spill-proof pet travel bowl and you can find one at Fly Dog Pets

I hope the wonderful people at Fly Dog won't be upset when I say that one of the reasons I think this is such a successful product is because it looks sorta like the toilet bowl, doesn't it?

Ha.

Seriously, I think this is one of the very best inventions I have seen recently.      Maybe these people need to go on that TV Show, Shark Tank      I bet that Ms. Barbara Corcoran would help them sell millions of these amazing bowls.

Ms. Corcoran seems to like the pet products that people bring to the show, and this seems much more practical than the toilet seat litter box that we saw one time.

You can purchase a Travel Bowl on the web-site for FlyDog, or you can go to Washington D.C. and find one at
Metro Mutts
And no offense to Metro Mutts either, but if the FlyDog People went on Shark Tank, then maybe PetSmart or PetCo would be carrying their wonderful product.   Just a thought.

If you are a small dog, and you are traveling with your family, you might need a SkyBox.   I think it would come in very handy and you can find them by going to Kurgo.com      I think these people have a wonderful sense of humor because they have named their "store" --- Kurgo.... which could also be Cur Go, and you know sometimes people call a dog a cur.     I'm not sure why, but I still think that they used some imagination when they thought this up.

Here is the Booster Seat:

I think I would be a bit too large for it, but I am sure that my small friends could use one.    And besides when you check out the Web-site you can find pictures of all the happy people who work at Kurgo and we especially like Mr. Tim Boyd who is the Vice President of Sales, because he has a Bulldog named Rambo.

I think it is important that when we are shopping on the InterNet that we take advantage of all of the links on some of the sites because then you can find happy people who own wonderful companies and are obviously people that really care about pets.      I would much rather drink from a water bowl or sit in a car seat that was made by someone who really loved dogs than buy from companies who just want to make tons of money.       (Not that I am opposed to making money...... that is The American Way, after all ----  I just think your heart should be in your business if you are going to be successful.

These people from Kurgo obviously know how to have fun:

So those are my travel picks for the Summer of 2011.       I suggest you find your Mouse and do some shopping and then take a trip.    Even if it is just around the block.

Love and Licks,

Bob
