Finding Asia a New Home

One of our Everything & The Dog clients is a wonderful woman named Kristin and she has helped to start Giant Hearts Giant Dog Rescue, Inc.

As you may have guessed, BIG dogs need help finding homes just as do any other dogs, but maybe BIG dogs have special needs, cause it takes just the right two leg family to share their home with a big dog.

So last week, my Mom was taking care of Ms. Kristin's dogs and so she was able to meet Asia, who is "just visiting" at Kristin's home while she awaits a forever home of her own.

Are you wondering why Asia is in the BathTub with no water?    Evidently she likes to hang out there.  Yipes.  Go figure.

Here is what Giant Hearts has to say about Asia:

Asia is a beautiful 4 year old, Saint Bernard female. She might be the goofiest dog you've ever met! She loves drinking ice cold water right from the hose, getting her belly rubbed, and hanging out in the bathtub. And she can't get enough hot dogs!! Asia loves any attention you can give her, but she is also very good about throwing the ball for herself if you can't do it. She used to be skittish around new people, but now the only thing she does when strangers come to her foster home is sit on their feet or nudge their hands with her head until they agree to pet her. Asia has been around kids as young as 3-5 years old, but was primarily raised with teenagers. She gets along with all dogs and cats, but it takes her a while to warm up to them enough to play. She was raised with a small dog and now she lives with 5 big dogs (100 lbs+). She was scared of the big dogs when she first came to her foster home, but now she runs around like a maniac with them every chance she gets. She has never barked or growled at another dog, even when they bark at her. Asia is very well trained and knows a variety of commands such as Sit, Down, Belly, Stay, Drop it, Leave it, and Give me. She also walks well on a leash, especially with a gentle leader. Asia was kept primarily as an outside dog with her original family and now that she's discovered air conditioning it can be a battle to get her to go outside! We're still working on getting her 100% house broken. She will go to the back door when she has to go to the bathroom, but if you don't let her out soon enough then she may have an accident. We recommend a forever home with a doggie door so she can go outside as often as needed. She is up to date on her vaccines and is spayed.

My Mom says that did we not live in a rather small space and that there are already three of us here, she would be trying to sneak Asia home with her.

So, we are asking you to pass along this information to every single person that you might know, no matter where they live, and let's see if we can't help Asia find a forever home.     I get so sad when I think about how many doggies don't have a home of their very own.    In Asia's case she is in a wonderful Foster Home, but it just isn't the same, is it.

Please see if you can help.

Love and Licks,

Bob
