Bob's Pit Bull Pals Club: Meet Abbie

Welcome to the Pit Bull Pals Club, Abbie!

I am so excited that my friend Abbie is joining our club.     Because she is one of the first ten pups to join, Abbie will be a Charter Member.      Since I thought the whole thing up, I am the President, and since we need him from time to time, MOPE, my Mouse Person is the Secretary.      Since I definately need Mom because I have to have a head to think into, we'll let her be an Honorary Member.

So here is Abbie's Story, in her own words:

Hi Bob, it's me..Abbie.  I would LOVE to be part of your club!  Mom said something about birds of a feather...I didn't really understand, but I like to chase birds.  I definitely agree that we need to represent so all those neigh sayers will see that we are just dogs and not to judge us by what we are (or in my case, what they THINK I might be).

My story...I was picked up by the local shelter in Cedar Rapids in June 2010.  I have blocked out everything prior to this date, but from what they tell me, I had puppies.  I was pretty young and I don't remember what happened to the puppies, but when I got to the shelter I had a LOT of puppy milk left in me.  It took a while to get back to my beautiful pre baby shape.  The shelter I was at has a cool summer event called "Downtown Dogs" where a bunch of us, if we behave, get to go down town and hang out in the GRASS and meet lots of new people, and walk around and get treats and get our picture taken... I tell you, it is heaven. Well, my now mom, Tina, came to a couple of these and she met me!  She knew she wanted a pitbull type dog, a girl, and possible black (because they don't get adopted as much).  Well I wasn't black, but I was everything else she wanted.  We sat and cuddled and rolled in the grass and she said I was EXACTLY what she was looking for!  She came to the shelter that weekend and adopted me.

Then there was a tricky part.  She was buying a house, but didn't get it for another week.  But the nice Critter Crusader people found a place for me to stay, and I had to see the doctor and take a nap...I felt sort of funny and erpy when I woke up... then I went to my new home!  Mom didn't even have a fence at first, but I promised I wouldn't go far.  Well...I guess the first day I jumped through an open window and went to see the neighbor, but he brought me back.

So that was all over a year ago and I am a pretty happy dog.  I have two kitty sisters and currently the foster bulldog sister I told you about.  I get to sleep on mom's bed all day.  I have lots of windows to watch the neighborhood and a wonderful yard to play in when mom is home.  Mom tells me how lucky we both are to have each other.  I know that not all dogs like us get the cool stuff we do.  Mom says she would bring them all home if she could, but our house isn't big enough, and not all dogs appreciate my wrestling ability.  Sometimes I get a little excited when we play.  Mom says we can't go to the dog park because when I play, I don't listen.  I also really like stray cats and squirrels, and turn my ears off then too.  But luckily I have lots of neighbors that like to play.  Max is a German Pointer, Riley is a Basset Hound, Chopper is a black and white pit bull like us!  He is pretty young and a great wrestling buddy.  And of course Buddy is a Jack Russel Terrier that antagonizes me like no other.  Oh, and there is a dog named Ohso that is a Bulldog like your sister!  I haven't played with him since he was little and I would jump over him.

Speaking of jumping..I think maybe I will take the distance record, and you can take the up and down record? How does that sound? Wouldn't that make us a great pair?  Well I need to finish my Kong and then try and get the food out of my silly treat ball. Here are some pictures of me.   I had a crooked ear for a long time.  (Mom's friend says now that I am full of love it stands up straight...) The second one is my sister Lily and the third is my sister Zorra, note, we don't ALWAYS get along this good.

I hope you are getting lots of response of joiners of you club.  I can't wait!  And the best part is...Sweet Pea (my foster sister)  can't join...cuz she isn't one of us...HA!

 Love and jumps,

Abbie

Then in a little bit, I got a second e-mail from Abbie where she filled in some blank spaces:

I tell you, that mom of mine...gets so excited she doesn't remember all the directions.  I don't know when my birthday is, cuz i was pretty little, so mom celebrates my "gotcha" date, which is the day we moved into our house.  August 27, 2010.  I am going to guess I was maybe two at that time?  As far as my hobbies, sleeping, eating, going for walks, car rides, inspecting the yard, keeping my siblings in line, alerting the neighborhood to potential intruders, welcoming committee, couch warmer, kid sitter, shoe eater, and confidante... that's a lot of jobs...wow.

Now we all know about Abbie and I can hardly wait to blog some more members pictures and stories in the coming up days.     I don't know why I didn't think this up sooner, but maybe that is because I am more "mature" now.       This new found maturity doesn't keep me from playing push the mattress off of Mom's Bed every evening however.    What fun would the world be without making a nuisance out of oneself occasionally?  HA.

Love and Licks, and Welcome to Abbie,

Bob
The President !
