Bob's Pit Bull Pals Club: Meet Smurf

I am so excited that my Cousin Smurf has joined our club and will be a CHARTER MEMBER.    The only problem is watching so that Smurf doesn't steal Abbie's heart away from me and leave me with no girl-friend again.

I have known Smurf for several years and we marched together in Washington, D.C. when we were in the
2 Dogs 2 Million Miles  March on our Nation's Capital.    This was when Murphy, Hudson and Mr. Luke had made it all the way from Austin, Texas on the way to Boston.     It was fun meeting everyone, but I do have to admit that I got very nervous being around so many dogs who were way bigger than me.     Cousin Smurf made me feel like his very own Little Brother and for that I am forever happy.

So ----- here is Smurf
                                                              Isn't he HANDSOME?????????

And here is his Story --- in his own words:

Hi!  My name is Smurf, and Bob is my dear cousin.  I have lived with my family for around 6 ½ years now, which would make me 7 ½.  My mom adopted me from a wonderful group called Misunderstood Pit Bull Rescue out of Richmond, VA when I was around 1 year old.  I remember the first time I saw my mom: I was in a cage at this big expo center, I think it was called Super Pet Expo or something like that.  I saw this beautiful woman walking down my row and around the corner.  I straightened myself up as tall as the crate would let me, and I focused my brown eyes on her, just like Superman stares hard at something to see thru it.  She looked over and we locked eyes, and I told her with my eyes “come and see me!”  She disappeared anyway, and I was so sad!  Then she came back a few minutes later and walked right up to my crate.  She asked my foster lady “can I see him?”  And soon after that I went home with her!

Our family consists of my mom and dad, me of course, my older brother Bear (he’s a big black Newfoundland/chow/shepherd mix), and my older sister Sheba (she’s a beautiful Siberian husky).  I get to sleep in bed with my mom and dad every night, and I have my very own fuzzy blanket that I get covered over with to go to sleep.  I go to work with my mom every day, and I’m a big help she says!  My official title is greeter: if someone comes to the door, I have to greet them, ask what help they need, and assist them with it.  I’m very good at my job!  I have a big fuzzy blanket in my office to take naps in-between greeting people, and two Kong balls that I like to run around and tease people with.

I hope that’s good enough for a bio, Cousin – I know you said to keep it “brief”, but I’m afraid I don’t know what that word means!

Love,   Cousin S

I am telling you, this is so much fun, and hopefully as time goes by, more and more of my Pit Bull friends, sisters, brothers, cousins, etc. will join our Club.

Eventually, I guess we will need some rules or a purpose, but for now, our only purpose in life is just to be us and to show the Whole World that Pit Bulls are totally wonderful dogs.

Love and Licks,

Bob
------- you can call me Mr. President, thanks!
