Sister Smudge
You know that even though she is sometimes a big pest, and I don't see a lot of her because we really don't live in the same house (just on the same property), I really am proud of my baby Sister, Smudge.
It's nice to have two baby sisters..... I have WillowBee, who we call The Beast, and Smudgie, who will be ONE YEAR OLD exactly two days after my birthday. I was born on January 20, 2007 and Smudge was born on January 22, 2011. Mom says that makes us both Aquarians and she says our Birthstones are Garnets.
I'm not sure why I need to know anything about Garnets, except they are red, and I like that color. I guess if I was rich (and not just famous), I could have a collar studded with gorgeous red garnets, but it might be heavy, or someone would try to steal me and my collar too, and that would be not a good thing. So I'll pass on the jewels. Maybe Smudge will be rich or marry into money and someone will give her a jeweled collar. HA.
Now let's talk about our Birthsign..... which also happens to be the birthsign for my Mom, even though she was born in a whole different month and many, many moons ago. In dog years, my Mom would be 455 years old and considering that fact, she looks pretty darn good, if you ask me. I'll let you do the math.
Anyway, I guess that everyone has a birthstone - in my case, Garnets, and a BirthSign. Supposedly your BirthsSign explains all of your personality traits and also helps when one is speed dating, as two legs are often overheard to ask one another....."so, what's your sign?"......... (dogs just sniff and figure this all out, but I guess two legs would be considered quite rude if they resorted to that, but if you ask me, I think the sniffing is a lot more accurate when trying to determine if one wants to associate with another)......... So.
Mom, and Smudge and me, BOB, are all Aquarians. According to my Mouse Person (who was sleeping under the birdcage when I finally found him), we can fly over to our friends at Wikipedia and read all about these "signs" which are also called Astrological signs and they represent twelve equal segments or divisions of the zodiac. According to astrology, celestial phenomena reflect or govern human activity on the principle of "as above, so below", so that the twelve signs are held to represent twelve basic personality types or characteristic modes of expression. There are "sun" signs and "moon" signs, which both depend on your date of birth.
Yipes. But I like the picture.

This is pretty complicated but on the other hand it is also extremely interesting because I wanted to see if I really "fit the sign"...... Mouse Person and I also learned that Aquarians can have rather eccentric temperaments and are usually rather determined and stubborn. They sometimes feel that those who are listening to them are not very receptive, or are unable to comprehend their ideas, so those born under this zodiac birth sign tend to get annoyed when people don't understand them. Then they invariably argue, and when they do, they stir up a good deal of opposition from others. They have a cool capability of discarding these people from their intellectual circle.
That's my Mom all right. And OK, I admit it, so far so good with me and Smudgie
People born under this zodiac birth sign can be anything or nothing, but they are rarely lonely. They have an honest enjoyment in meeting new people and exchanging ideas. Aquarians have a group instinct, which tends to direct them to where there are other people, or else people will come to them.
Does this mean that a trip to the dog park might be a good idea after all?
This zodiac birth sign love the beauties of nature, but they like to admire them in comfort. They do enjoy their material and creature comforts, but are not greedy with it. They are not really inclined towards sports as a rule, preferring to be the observer. The pursuits of this zodiac birth sign are more intellectual than physical.
Mom says this translates as BOB + SMUDGE = Couch Potatoes.
Aquarians usually appear very calm, but this demeanour can be rather deceptive, for underneath the surface, all may not be as well as the impression they give off. People with this zodiac birth sign can get anxious very easily. They tend to take their work very seriously, so may go along in life feeling nervous or apprehensive a fair amount of the time due to the pressure they put upon themselves.
This zodiac birth sign do their best work when they are part of a team effort, or when they are part of some organization that is trying to bring about some ideal. In such pursuits, their excellent creativity, memory, knowledge, love of freedom, and humanitarianism can find their outlet.
And this explains why I feel the way I do about Breed Discrimination and why I need my Mom and her opposable thumbs, plus my Mouse Person, not to mention my roving reporters, in order to do a good job as a Boy Bloginator, Pit Bull Reporter Extra Ordinary. It is a team effort around here, every day.
So, I guess that this sign stuff pretty much hits the nail on the head (another one of those absolutely useless two leg expressions)...... at least as far as us Aquarians are concerned. So. What's YOUR sign?
HA.
And just for the record, let me say that because I was born on the 20th of January, there is some dispute about my birthsign, as sometimes my birthday makes me a Capricorn, not an Aquarian. Since I do believe in free choice, and since the symbol for Capricorns is a darn smelly old goat, I choose to stick with Smudgie and Mom, and wish to be placed in the Aquarian pile.
Thanks.
So now you know all about what makes us January/February personalities the way we are. Information like this is important. You can never tell when someone will come along and ask you to explain yourself.
And back to Smudge, which is where I started. Check this out.

See why I am so proud of her? Is this not just the perfect photo graph? (taken, of course, by our wonderful friend Ellen Zangla.
Just one thing. Smudgie has a "boot fetish". Mom says she will explain all of that to me later. But ever since she arrived in our home, she has been pretty attached to my Sister, Lydia's, feet. Remember when she was just a baby:

So maybe someday, Smudgie and I will both be rich and famous. I will be an even greater Phenomena because of my blogging abilities, and Smudgie will get an advertising contract with either Sorel or Ugg Boots.
Then we will both have jeweled collars and people will wait upon us hand and boot.
HA.
Love and Licks,
Bob
------ not holding my breath about the money rolling in any time soon
------------ definately an Aquarian, not an old goat
Sorel People? Are you reading this? Think about it. Great advertising. Thanks

Bob - Very interesting post this a.m., my favorite pitbull bloginator friend. You, Smudge, and mom are all very lucky to be born under the "least represented" sign of the zodiac, although Capricorn wouldn't be bad either as *the* hardest working sign of the zodiac. I have an affinity for you Aquarians, however, as I have my moon sign in Aquarius and all of my favorite men (including all my husbands, one being an Aquarius) were born in the Air sign category (Libra, Aquarius, and Gemini). My moon sign is in Scorpio which, according to Adam Sandler's astrology, is the sign "most likely to be murdered." Us Scorps have a *very* bad rap and my bunnies and I are doing all that we can to try and stomp that out. People misunderstand our fascination with sex and death (regneration both physically, spiritually, and emotionally) and are too quick to dismiss our quirky, uber-private ways. I would love to know all the signs of my bunnies, so your mom is lucky to know your sign and Smudge's. The only bunny whose sign I am certain of is my late, beautiful Bluegrass, who shared my sign of Scorpio. I *knew* there was something special about her from the beginning. She always seemed to just "get" me. The rest of my bunnies I am not so sure of, but we all love each other just the same! My favorite astrologer is Jonathan Cainer (www.cainer.com). I suscribe to his five-star service and read and listen to Jonathan's forecasts religiously. My current Libran husband doesn't quite get this, but he balances it all out (as he would since his sign is that of the scales!) with all the kooky things he does and accepts me as I am . . . well, he doesn't have much choice! I am scary Scorpio after all! Love to you, your mom, and your big sis, Lydia. Melinda

Miss Melinda (and bunny friends)
I am so glad to hear from you.
I think this entire subject is very interesting. I have never known a Scorpion before, I don't think. We don't know when Rusty and Scarlett were born. My sister, Lydia is a bow and arrow person, who Mom says is call a Sagittarius, but it worries me that she may be practicing up with some wierd weapon.
I am definately going to have to check that out.
Mom says that one of our jobs as an Aquarius person is to carry buckets of water. This sounds a lot like work to me, so I will stick to blogging.
I still do not want to be a Capricorn because my Mom takes care of some goats up the road from us and I understand that they eat poison ivy. I prefer Wellness - Whitefish and Sweet Potato. I think it is fitting because I eat fish, and I am a water bearer.
We miss you in Leesburg, Virginia
Love,
Bob
