Pie, Please!
All of my friends know how much my Mom and I love to listen to The Kojo Nnamdi Show which is on our local NPR radio station, WAMU 88.5 Well actually, Mom listens while she is driving around doing her dog walking, and then she comes home and tells me when it is something that I need to know about.
On Wednesday, November 9th, Kojo and his guests (Rodney Henry, owner, Dangerously Delicious Pies and Teresa Velazquez co-owner, Baked & Wired and Lisa Yockelson author, "Baking Style: Art, Craft, Recipes" (Wiley); baking journalist) were talking about one of my entirely favorite subjects in the world and that is PIE!
Next to Oatmeal, I cannot think of a more perfect breakfast food. HA.
Here is Kojo
Mom says that Kojo has a perfect voice and when she has played some of his shows on our computer, so I could listen, I must say, I totally agree with her. I think if I could talk, I might sound like Kojo. Unfortunately, on Wednesday, he did talk with his mouth full of pie a couple of times, and his Mom needs to remind him that this is not very polite. However, since the subject was PIE!, I forgive him.
The lady guests on his show were very entertaining and had a lot of nice information, but my Mom and I have decided that we need to adopt Rodney Henry into my Bob's Pit Bull Pals Club and make him an honorary member, as long as he will let me sample some of his PIE!
Here is Mr. Rodney:
----- I am sure that you have noticed that he is not your "average" pie maker. He ranks right up there with this man, who is also my hero:
Guy Fieri
When we had our television set and it was working (before the lightening bolt hit it) we would watch Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives all the time ---- AND all of the other shows that Mr. Guy is on, because we think he is a very funny person. (Like me, HA).
So seriously back to the PIE!

I think if you are going to own a pie shop, you should look like Mr. Rodney. And of course having a name for your Pie Shop like Dangerously Delicious is quite a unique idea too.
This is what we discovered when we flew over to visit them in cyberspace:
"All pies are made from scratch with no additives and/or preservatives. Only the freshest of ingredients are used which is why certain pies may only be available during certain seasons. Each and every pie is made by hand with love. There’s nothing frozen, generic, or massed produced about what we do and we take pride in that. Customers are paying for a quality product and a quality experience therefore if any customer is not satisfied it will become our undying duty to get it just right. We truly do aim to please, we truly do love our pie and it is our greatest responsibility to make sure everyone else does too. All comments (good and bad), and suggestions are encouraged!"
Here is another interesting thing about this particular PIE SHOP...... you can go and get a SAVORY pie AND a SWEET pie and you could have your entire dinner and desert all about Pie. And I'm sure that there would then be leftovers so you could have breakfast and lunch. So you could actually eat pie for 24 hours straight - breakfast, lunch, dinner and a midnight snack. WOW.
So I am going to ask Mr. Rodney if he would like to be an Honorary Member of our Pit Bull Pals Club, and if he would like to send us all gift certificates for a slice of pie the next time one of us is in Baltimore, Maryland or Washington, DC.
Love and Licks,
Bob
------- Kojo --- don't talk with your mouth full
---------------- Mr. Rodney - please make us a PitBull Pie.
Oh and BTW ---- which as you know stands for By The Way..... if you want to see a wonderful movie (one of my all time very most favorites), then go and see the movie:

First off John Travolta is my very favorite actor, and this movie has a dog.... Sparky --- AND it has a wonderful scene where everyone is EATING PIE, and SINGING ABOUT PIE TOO. Trust me. You need to watch this movie....... and don't worry about Sparky, cause he is A-OK (and I don't care if I give it away......he DOES NOT die).

Those pies look awesome. This is Black Bella from your club. We just went on a super super long walk and my mom says she could really go for some pie. Maybe a trip into DC is in order next weekend!
