Never Enough Corgis!

So last week, I posted about Mom's clients ---- Raz & Merlin, who are Cardigan Corgis and Frankie & Tucker who are Pembroke Corgis ------ and NOW, we want to feature even more Cardigan Welsh Corgis --- our clients who live in Leesburg......  Romeo, Julietta and Gabriella.

And here they are:
Romeo is the Black and White boy dog and Julietta is his gorgeous sister.    And even though you cannot see her eyes very well, Julietta has one brown eye and one blue eye.

Julietta and Romeo are brother and sister, but Julietta is also THE Queen of the household.     Julietta is a color called Blue Merle and it is very distinctive.

This whole Merle thing is pretty interesting and so I found my Mouse Person and we flew off to
Wikipedia to see what we could find out ...... and this is what we discovered:

Merle is a distinguishing marking of several breeds, particularly the Australian Shepherd, and appears in others, including the Koolie, German Coolies in Australia, the Shetland Sheepdog, various Collies, the Welsh Corgi (Cardigan), the Pyrenean Shepherd, the Bergamasco Sheepdog, the Old English Sheepdog, and Catahoula Leopard Dog. In Dachshunds the merle marking is known as "dapple". It is also present in the Pomeranian and Chihuahua, but is a disqualification according to the FCI standards. In the American Pit Bull Terrier, and Cocker Spaniel breeds it is not a recognized color. The merle gene also plays a part in producing harlequin Great Danes.

I have never seen a PitBull who is Merle colored, I don't think.    But if anyone out there has another Blue Merle color dog, can you please send us an e-mail and tell us all about him or her.    I think that would be very interesting, and maybe Julietta would like to meet them?   Or not.

And this is what Wikipedia said about Julietta's eyes.

In addition to altering base coat color, Merle also modifies eye color and coloring on the nose and paw pads. The merle gene modifies the dark pigment in the eyes, occasionally changing dark eyes to blue, or part of the eye to be colored blue. Since merle causes random modifications, however, both dark-eyed, blue-eyed, and odd-colored eyes are possible. Color on paw pads and nose may be mottled pink and black.

Romeo and Julietta had their entire home all to themselves, and then one day their parents decided to surprise them and Gabriella  arrived.  Frankly, I don't want to have this kind of surprise any more at my home.      There are enough of us, thanks.

Here is little Gabby, fast asleep.     As you can see she is brown and white and actually is pretty much the same coloring as our friends Frankie & Tucker, except Gabby has a tail.

Here is big sister Julietta, resting her head on Gabby.
(or ---- Mom says she is probably telling her, "okay, you just lay right here, and I'll go and find you a treat".)

Mom says that Gabby has provided the comic relief for her little family......and we can tell from this picture that she is indeed pretty funny....even when sleeping:

So Mom has quite the Corgi Crew to take care of ..... but as of now the Cardigans are outnumbering the Pembrokes, so Mom say she needs to take care of at least  THREE more Pembroke's so things can even out!

Pretty soon the Corgi's can start their own Club!   HA.

Love and Licks,

Bob
