More Birds?

Well so far, this whole Twelve Days of Christmas thing has been a total bust.

Day One:    The Partridge            Never showed up!  (and I know from my friend Mickey that The Partridge wasn't at his house either.

Day Two:     The Turtle Doves..... not even going to show their picture again, two creepy.    But since they didn't arrive, I don't have to worry about them.

So today, The Third Day of Christmas, we are expecting a delivery of French Hens:

These appear to be nice, normal chickens, if you ask me, and I certainly don't mind if they choose to hang around for awhile.   Fresh eggs would definately come in handy.

I am a bit worried however, as I don't know if I can tell a hen from a rooster, and if we get three roosters knocking on our door, we won't have any eggs, that's for sure.

In anticipation, I found my Mouse Person and we did a little research and we found out how to tell the difference between a hen and a rooster.  Basically, there are four or five ways to tell them apart, but the best seems to be that only the rooster can crow.    So in order to make sure that the birds that show up on my front porch later today are hens, I will have to spend quality time with them and make sure they cannot crow.

You know what?      This entire 12 days of Christmas is just way to much work for me.     I'm sorry, but so far I have been disappointed about the Partridge; scared silly by the thought of a flying turtle, and NOW I find out that I'm going to have to stay up for 24 hours straight to find out if my hens are girls or not.

I don't know about you, but frankly, there has to be an easier way to celebrate.

Love and Licks,

Bob
