Hi it's me, Bob.
All better.

In fact I am feeling wonderful because it is FALL and that is my favorite season of the year. Even though I haven't had too many seasons yet, I like Fall the best because the leaves are falling off the trees in our woods and so I can see better when I run with my friends, the deer. Also, there is something soft to land on when I miss a jump.

So.

Our friends at Best Friends Animal Society sent us some wonderful information and asked us to share with all of our friends all over the world (did you know we have friends in foreign places? - it's true - remember Pete Bethune, the captain of Earthrace....?)

The new Disney movie, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, came out yesterday, Friday, October 3rd and we all know what that means. It means that lots of people (mostly little children who talk their parents into it) will want to have a dog just like the one in the movie. Sometimes they even go out and buy a dog "just like that one". But it isn't trained, needs to be taught about not going potty in the house, and guess what - it's can't even talk.

Our friends at Best Friends wanted us to remind you that shelters and rescue groups all across the country have plenty of Chihuahuas for ADOPTION. Did you know that Chihuahuas are the 5th most posted breed of dog for adoption on Petfinder? I didn't know that. First is Labs, then Shepherds, then us, PitBulls, and then mixes of those breeds and then the little ones. Poor little things.

If you wake up your lazy Mouse Person and ask him nicely with a piece of fine cheese, perhaps he will help you do some surfing around to learn some things. If you want to see a star-studded video - with actors from the movie - that Best Friends put together, then ask your MousePerson to Take Me to The Chihuahua Video

And this my friends is the best of all.

This poster was made by Best Friends and it can easily be printed and hung up around your town. We want everyone to know that they can rescue a poor little Chihuahua on Petfinder instead of buying one from a Pet Store, Newspaper ad or the Internet.

In fact ----- get this part --- the star of the movie - Star Chihuahua - was rescued from a Moreno Valley shelter, outside of Los Angeles, just days before his "time was up", and you KNOW what that means.

If you want information about how you can download a copy of the poster to use in your town, please just let us know or contact Best Friends and they will help you.

And by the way....here is good news: Remember Kiki & Lola, who were looking for a new forever home? They found one! Well, actually they found two. Two wonderful neighbors each took one of them with the promise that the girls could see each other all the time. Way to go, Kiki & Lola!

My Mom has some Chihuahua clients and they are named Ricky Ricardo and Coco. My Mom loves taking care of them very much, as does Ms. Jewel and Ms. Nikki who often go to sleep with the "littles" as we call them. Ricky Ricardo wanted to be in this movie but he didn't want to be away from home that long. HA!

A project nearly abandoned earlier this year when a passive park with an off leash area along Old Waterford Road became the subject of much controversy, the dog park has now found a home in the town.

Leesburg Town Council members unanimously approved a three-quarter acre, fenced-in dog park at Olde Izaak Walton Park, a park currently leased by the town. In its approval, council members stipulated that town staff must use only the $18,570 remaining in proffer funds from the Morven Meadows Park project and can seek out private donations to cover any additional costs as well as the or annual maintenance. Assistant Director of Parks Bill Ference estimated Monday that annual maintenance of the dog park would be in the neighborhood of $12,000 to $13,000, which he said could be covered in the Parks and Recreation Department's annual budget.

Construction and implementation of the park is expected to take around six months, and Ference said that town staff would aim for an early spring 2009 opening to allow the weather conditions to be right for a dog park. The dog park area, located on the southern side of the park, will be open from dawn to dusk.

Councilman Kevin Wright said that a perk for him was the expected participation, both in donations and in offering volunteer time, of the friends group, which will operate as a nonprofit charity to help raise private donations for the dog park.

"By capping the project at [$18,570] we either have to be more efficient or the friends group can partner with us to close the gaps. Based on those parameters I will support this," he said.

Dale Goodson, a member of the friends group, said Monday he believes that the dog park at Izaak Walton was the best solution for the town and said that the friends group will be an active supporter of the park.

"I think we've finally got this to point where we have an incredibly balanced and grounded plan. It will increase the utility of Izaak Walton Park," Goodson said. "There's a lot of individuals and local businesses ready to support this. I do not expect you're going to see any real operating expense on this park."

But the line of the night belonged to Councilman Ken Reid, who concluded Tuesday's meeting with a creative retrospective of the town's journey to a dog park.

"I'm very pleased we finally settled the issue of the dog park. This issue has been dogging the council for at least three years, or, 21 in dog years," Reid said. "As you'll recall, [then Director of Parks and Recreation] Kaj Dentler and his pack sniffed out several locations, including Oatlands, and settled on Morven Meadows, but this created a lot of howling from neighbors-and folks concerned with the cost. So, we buried that idea. Let's face it, we were barking up the wrong tree. Thankfully, folks like Sandy Kane, Mary Harper and Dale Goodson kept the issue on the front burner. They were like dogs with a bone. I just hope they do form their 501c3 and start bringing in some bacon!"

So that is most of the what Leesburg Today has to say. But guess what? They forgot something really important!

My sister is going to be a part of the committee who will help this all happen. It will be called the Dog Park at Olde Izaak Walton Park. If you are interested in helping with all of this, just send an e-mail to lbest@everythingandthedog.com and she will tell you all about the plans and what is needed from volunteers, beside money. HA. That's a good joke, just like Mr. Ken Reid said in his words that were full of puns. My Mom had to explain all about puns to me, but now I get it.

This is serious reporting and just like I told you before, the serious stuff is a lot of hard work. So I'm going to take a nap and dream about what our Dog Park will look like and how much fun it will be to go there and meet new friends.

Tired from reporting,
Bob

They said I am not a greyhound and therefore, I have to stay home.

Is this fairness? I don't think it is and I seem to remember Daisy being in this same position last year and boy, oh boy, was she hopping mad. I'm just sad. I can run as fast as any greyhound around and I have actually raced with some in my yard. They thought I was a greyhound and didn't have any trouble at all playing with me. His name is Duke. But even Duke can't get me into the picnic.

Since I cannot go and even though I was more than willing to spend a lot of money on auction items (like the Knitamil Greyhound made by our friend Danamarie).........
Hi Everyone! It's me! Bob!

I have already figured out that when you are a reporter, sometimes you find out things that you feel are not right and you then get to have an opinion.

When my Mom and my Grammy said that Daisy could start her Blogging Business and that someday maybe I would be able to write stuff down too, they also said that we could not be controversial. I have absolutely no idea at all what that means. Just so you know.
                                                                                      So it's about my lipstick.

I'm sure that you notice that I appear to be wearing lipstick in this photo graph from Miss Bev. If you wanted to go back and check out other photo graphs of me, you might notice that not only does my upper lip get very "flushed", ALL around my mouth I am quite pink and although this has nothing to do with my lips, the inside of my ears turn BRIGHT RED when I am scared or embarrased, which is on a pretty regular basis, unfortunately.

Now I am sure that the entire country is aware that Ms. Sarah Palin made an unfortunate remark on September 3 about pit bulls wearing lipstick. My Mom says that Ms. Palin simply asked if everyone knew the difference between a Hockey Mom and a PitBull. To me this seems to be a pretty strange question. Hockey Mom's usually have two legs, not four; and they drive around in big SUV's, lugging a bunch of little two legs with them so that the little two legs can go kick a ball around in a field and get out some of their pent up energy.

As everyone knows, PitBulls have four legs and no driving license, but they would be most happy to learn how to play Hockey. My Mom and I kick around empty plastic jugs which is a game I love but it isn't really Hockey.

So. Ms.Palin said the answer to the question "what is the difference between a Hockey Mom and a PitBull" was that Hockey Mom's wear lipstick.

Obviously Ms. Palin hasn't met me. Bob. Lipstick Bob my Mom calls me.

Now that I have cleared that part up and when Ms. Palin reads this she will understand that she made a mistake, let's go on to Mr. Barack Obama. It seems that several days after Ms. Palin tried to explain that hockey mom's wear lipstick, Mr. Obama, in trying to explain that if a pig chooses to wear lipstick it doesn't change the fact that it was still a pig, has upset a lot of people, most of all Ms. Palin. (Or maybe he upset Mr. McCain, because actually my Mom says that Ms. Palin looks like she has some sense of humor, at least)

I like pigs, as a matter of fact. I want us to buy one so I can play with it. Anyway, where was I? This reporting is such hard work. Darn.

So, here is what I think. These people (Mr. Obama, Ms. Palin and ALL of the others who are trying to be in charge of our country) should just take a clue from us PitBulls and just get along. Not make a big fuss, not be rude, not take up important time saying bad things about others, but just be nice.

Here I am, just a PitBull and I know some important stuff in addition to getting along with everyone. I know that Hockey Moms have two legs and PitBulls have four. I understand that in trying to appear attractive, Hockey Moms often wear lipstick, and that I, Bob, often "appear" to be wearing lipstick because I have some unfortunate genetic problem that makes my lips and ears flush on a regular basis. I also understand that I am STILL a PitBull, lipstick or no lipstick. If someone put lipstick on a pig, it would still be a pig and no person that I know about would be upset about that. Also, by the way, pigs have four legs, so they can't be Hockey Moms either.

I am very hopeful that now that I have explained all this information, as a good reporting person should do, that Mr. Obama and Ms. Palin will put all of this stuff behind them and get on with their jobs. My Mom says that also means that all of the Republicans and the Democrats (this is way over my head) should stop being so silly over "issues" that were never issues in the first place. That is exactly what I said (I think), but my Mom feels she has to step in from time to time to make sure I'm getting my facts straight.

By the way, I told her that I had cleared ALL of this with Daisy very early this morning while my Mom was still sleeping. That is a perfect time of the day to communicate. HA!

Why do you think my lips and my ears get so red? You don't think there is something wrong with me, do you? Oh boy. And here is something else I need to know. What is the difference between Hockey and Soccer, because once I heard that same question about them wearing lipstick and now I'm confused.

I am done for the day. I am very, very tired.
Bob

Hi Bob and Family

Guess what, it's me Mom. Isn't the wonder of modern science terrific. Here I am in Norristown, Pennsylvania and pretty much knowing what you are thinking, doing and up to while I am away. You knew that your sister would tell me everything, now didn't you?

Bob, you never knew very much about your almost nephews, Borris and Stewie, so I will tell you now. Boris and Stewie are the fur children of our darling Jenny-Girl and her husband Seth. Once, a very long time ago, while Marvin and Jethro were still alive, your Mom clicked her heels together and ran away to Kansas. While there, I met Jenny-Girl, and adopted her as another daughter. Once that was accomplished the rest was history. Jenny-Girl met your Sister, and guess what? It was as if they were separated at birth. Yes, they are that much alike. Your Sis is surfer-girl, California Blonde, even after all these years, and Jenny-Girl is Half-Philadelphia Italian, but other than that, they like everything the same. No pickles on their burgers, please.

So as years pass, first Sister came to have our Daisy, then Auntie Jenny-Girl gets Boris and then Stewie. Me (Mom) had Marvin, Jethro and then Hannah, all of whom have crossed TRB; then Rusty, Scarlett and finally, you, Bob. Our Baby.

By the way, Auntie and Mr. Seth have two little two legged children named Jack and Ian. Auntie Jenny also has some extremely complicated and often times amusing family members on both her and Uncle Seth's family trees, but then - who are we to talk? This is just another reason why fur children provide unconditional and truly never-ending love, while human families are often outrageous and difficult to communicate with unless one has medical assistance of one kind or another.

Back to Boris and Stewie. TaDa!

Boris is the grumpy looking one on the right side, while Stewie (yes, from Family Guy) is the rather unusual creature on the left. Boris and Stewie are French Bulldogs (Frenchies for short), but one cannot say that either of them are breed standard. Boris was straight off the plane from Russia, and has always been a bit oppinionated. Stewart on the other hand, came out missing a few genes, not to mention teeth and hair. He has a condition called alopeachia (which is probably spelled wrong). It's the same thing our Rusty has on his stomach - no hair.

In addition, anyone who has seen the movie Lilo and Stich, will readily identify and wonder why in the world Stewie is Stewie and not Stich.

So Bob, those are your pseudo-nephews. If Auntie Jenny was your true Aunt, then they would be your true nephews. Baring that, at the present, they are all you have, and they say they can barely wait to meet you in person. They have, however, known to lie.

Love, Mom
